Anyone else watching this on Netflix?
I’m on the second episode and I think this woman has serious mental health issues and there’s no way she’s going to be able to keep this up.

Oh yes I enjoyed this. Tupperware lady needed some professional help I think.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 11/01/2019 16:40

Yes I watched 3 in a row last night! Just started the Tupperware lady one.

I was frustrated to see in the first 3 families when they went back 3 months later they had all started to revert back to their old ways. The woman in the second episode who let her husband do everything while she 'rested' was just a lazy mare, her bedroom made me feel sick all that cat hair and cat paraphernalia 🤢

Calvinsmam · 11/01/2019 18:15

I don’t think this type of intervention will help them to be honest.
It will make their house tidy for a while but they aren’t taught how to keep on top of it or what to keep and what to throw away.
They’re just going to end up in the same state because they haven’t been shown how to process stuff.

Yes you're right, they all had psychological reasons they were doing it and none were addressed, pointless exercise really.

I am amazed at what the carpenter man builds he's really good

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 11/01/2019 18:37

This woman's Tupperware addiction is shocking, she definitely needs some sort of therapy

youaremyrain · 11/01/2019 19:27

I suspect that the carpenter is mostly a character for the show and that there is really a team of designers and makers that produce the stuff (of which he is the figurehead- he does some of it I'm sure) he can't do all that stuff that quickly by himself can he? Not if it's all a surprise and put together while the family are in the warehouse

LoadsaBlusher · 11/01/2019 19:38

Love this show
They all have serious hoarding issues , I actually sit and watch it whilst ranting to DP “ why can’t they just chuck stuff out “
The very first episode ( home school family ) has such a beautiful unusual house in a stunning location ( was that Vancouver island perhaps?scenery looked amazing ) and I was sitting thinking “ how can you clutter that up “

I get far too involved / irate when watching these types of shows Grin

NamedyChangedy · 11/01/2019 19:40

I enjoyed this, as well as the Marie Kondo programme. The families on Consumed clearly had a lot of issues going on, they could definitely have benefitted from additional support.

LoadsaBlusher · 11/01/2019 19:43

I liked Marie Kondo but didn’t like the translator , felt it lost a little sparkle / pizazz / personality with this element
I prefer Consumed because I felt the results were more drastic

Di11y · 11/01/2019 19:48

consumed motivated me to declutter, id binge a couple of episodes then blitz a room.

LoadsaBlusher · 11/01/2019 20:12

Di11y totally agree, I have done lots of de clutter this week

Calvinsmam · 11/01/2019 20:46

Oh my goodness I’ve just watched the Tupperware one Shock

That woman is really ill!!!

The poor child didn’t even have anywhere to sleep.

She shouldn’t have been on telly.

I didn't enjoy the Kondo one either, too airy fairy all the thanking the clothes etc. The Tupperware lady definitely needed help, I hated the way she was speaking to her daughter when they were sorting their stuff in the warehouse. Did you see that the house was back in a state at the end? So sad for the little girl

I've just watched the one with the hunter, disgusting man with his 'trophies' on the wall.

Calvinsmam · 11/01/2019 20:53

I Marie kondoed my house about a year ago and it changed my life.
I still keep my clothes in that way and my house is so tidy and organised now.
But I find her really annoying and the show is crap, it’s just marginally untidy people throwing out bills.

I could watch her fold clothes on YouTube all day long though.

Oooh laurie Is it a Canadian series ? Not American? Then defo Vancouver ... I would SO love to go there
This is just my musing , but I always think these Clutter type / Hoarder programs are so much worse in USA / Canada just purely down to the fact that they have SO much more land mass / home square footage than us in the UK
Like a standard home in these programs is like a mansion ( space wise ) compared to our 2/3 bed semis in the UK.
No wonder they get so bad and so filled full of rubbish

Epiphany52 · 12/01/2019 22:17

I’m watching this now. Home schooling’s family I felt happy for them.
Cannot believe how entitled the lady with the cats is. She is damaging her children by her behavior.
The husbands are so passive. Their wives just walk all over them.
Just feel a bit sorry for the kids really.
Intrigued to get to Tupperware lady

ChampagneCommunist · 12/01/2019 22:45

Loved this series. I love the various Hoarder ones too, but the American over the top emotional response to everything can be hard to take.

Canadians are more like us, I think

BartonHollow · 13/01/2019 00:41

I BINGED this Blush

But Tupperware Lady, my Bedroom is my cats toilet lady, and Rod who buys Rod things with Rods Money all need psychiatric help and it felt a bit exploitative

WHY ONLY ONE SERIES? Angry
