Or is she just too reliant on the powers of big grownup Sportacus? (And a wee bit too pink and miniskirted?)

There just isn't anyone to rival Dora, is there really ...

Yes, she is a mouse. But she's also a woman... Are you being animalix ?

SueBaroo · 25/05/2007 00:31

Yeah, I think I am. If we's talking role models, I'm thinking of steering clear of the vermin/experiment fodder rodents ...

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/05/2007 00:31

Velma from Scooby-Doo is smart, loyal to her friends and can handle a large dog.

Are Dora's parents junkies? They never know where their daughter has got to.

DD1 has discovered a new princess - Princess Leia from Star Wars, she brave, she sarcastic and she fire bloody great laser guns

ghosty · 25/05/2007 03:43

And she gets to snog Harrison Ford to boot ...
But we shouldn't point that out to our DDs/DSs should we?

We are definitely in the Dora camp here ...

LoveAngel · 25/05/2007 10:02

Yes but in order to be the clever, ballsy one Thelma has to be portrayed as speccy and ginger (no offence against the bespectacled redheads among us, but she just screams 'the ugly friend' next to Daphne).

I'm with you, SueBaroo. Nina is probably the best anyone is yet to come up with.

:-)

francagoestohollywood · 25/05/2007 11:43

Mind you that's one of the best snog on screen ever!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/05/2007 12:50

DD1 is going to a fancy dress party as Princess Leia - she has a white dress and a gold belt, I just need to figure out the hair (I am NOT buying the fake ones)!

She also has a bloody great laser gun

Thanks all. So it is just Dora then really - and Maisy, who is, slightly unsatisfactorily, a mouse. Plus maybe Aunty Mabel and Nina Neuron.

It would be interesting to compile a list of male heroes and leads and compare numbers ... for starters:

Bob the Builder
Postman Pat
Fireman Sam
Underground Ernie
Thomas the Tank Engine
Lunar Jim
Big Cook Little Cook
Koala Brothers
Andy Pandy
...

(I'm leaving aside the APPALLING stereotypes in the Tweenies APPALLING & Muffin the Mule etc)
