Anyone watching this? I'm interested to see what the results are for the people taking part.

I am watching it. really interested to see the outcome.

honeysucklejasmine · 30/05/2018 20:23

Yes. Quite interesting so far.

raisedbyguineapigs · 30/05/2018 20:24

I kind of am, but I'm fed up of the zillions of different pieces of advice about losing weight. It's very disheartening.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 30/05/2018 20:25

So interesting, a different way of thinking after being told for years that crash diets don’t work.

HollowTalk · 30/05/2018 20:25

It all comes full circle, doesn't it? The low carb diet was similar to the original Weight Watchers. The low calorie diet has always been around - when I was young it was 1000 calories a day, whereas now it's 800 - that seems awfully low.

Watching with interest. But whatever I watch/read about diets these days I always end up going back to The Diet Myth (by Professor Tim Spector) Microbiome research always seems to trump everything else. Do give it a read if you can.

I'm watching with interest......the female Dr seems underweight to me?

DrinkReprehensibly · 30/05/2018 20:28

Did anyone recognise the packets they were using? I'm wondering what brand of diet products they are using.

user1486076969 · 30/05/2018 20:30

I'm guessing something like 'ye olde' Slimfast?

raisedbyguineapigs · 30/05/2018 20:30

My Dbro did lighter life and reversed his diabetes. He said something about soup, shakes and porridge so it may be that.

Housewife2010 · 30/05/2018 20:32

When I was younger I was able to crash diet successfully. I could lose weight fast and felt fine. Now in my 4Os weight loss is so much slower however I diet and if I try to crash diet I feel faint and dizzy and can't do it any more.

Jozxyqk · 30/05/2018 20:35

I've just switched this on, missed the 1st 10 minutes. Looks interesting so far.

raisedbyguineapigs · 30/05/2018 20:40

God Rebecca sounds like she needs some serious help if she's going to those lengths to cheat the gastric band. Will be interesting to see if she can break the cycle. Her family are slim.

raisedbyguineapigs · 30/05/2018 20:41

Also, how has the Catholic priest got a family? Was he an Anglican convert? off topic

HollowTalk · 30/05/2018 20:43

That's the only way he could be!

They all look great with a 2 stone loss.

I want to know what they're eating, though!

KirstenRaymonde · 30/05/2018 20:53

The female doctor is a lower but perfectly healthy weight - yet again a case of us being so used overweight people that healthy looks too skinny.

They’ve all done really well, it’s clearly been hard but had such great results. Rebecca has an eating disorder, the lengths she’d gone to get fast food in. I hope she’s finally managed to change her mindset.

KirstenRaymonde · 30/05/2018 20:54

I imagine they’re not saying exactly because they can’t be seen to be advertising any one product.

KirstenRaymonde · 30/05/2018 20:57

Just googled Cambridge Diet and look who’s on the front page...m.cambridgeweightplan.com

KirstenRaymonde · 30/05/2018 20:57

m.cambridgeweightplan.com

melodybirds · 30/05/2018 20:58

No one said they don't work and are great physically while it lasts but where will they be in six months or a year.... that's always been my issue.

raisedbyguineapigs · 30/05/2018 21:19

Are they not just eating the meal replacements? So not eating food at all. I think the idea is that if you do that for a while you don't have to think about food.

SlinkyB · 30/05/2018 22:53

Well that was a waste of my time.

As if I didn't already know that if you are very overweight and then go on a liquid only 800kcal per day meal replacement programme then you'd lose a shed load of weight Hmm

CoolCarrie · 30/05/2018 23:11

Can it possibly work long term? I doubt it.

CWPClairep · 31/05/2018 06:34

They are Cambridge Weight Plan products

Belindabelle · 31/05/2018 08:43

Susan Jebb really annoys me. She was one of the biggest advocates of Eat Less Move More. For years she disapproved of VLCD and was totally anti low carb too. its good that she appears to have changed her mind but I hated the way she made out that she always supported these diets.

Having said that I thought the programme was interesting and was delighted to see that they all had good results. The tide certainly seems to be changing.
