I’ve seen so many comments about how brilliant this is. I’d love to watch it but I fear it’s a bit too disturbing. I probably wouldn’t be able to handle it.

staydazzling · 17/05/2018 22:19

yeah i can understand its 'good' if thats the right word but is very upsetting definitely not a standard yrue crime doc

I watched it and enjoyed it, but it told a very different story as to how much Brian Wells was involved in the heist, compared to podcasts I have listened to.

halfwitpicker · 31/05/2018 15:16

The first episode is a bit shocking, yes. The rest is fairly low key really, lots of interviews.

It is very watchable and I'd definitely recommend it. But I think Marjorie is portrayed in a way that presents her as very intelligent like she's some kind of criminal mastermind, which is hardly the case!

ALemonyPea · 31/05/2018 15:22

I’ve watched it. Wasn’t prepared for the graphic scene at the beginning. The rest was quite interesting. The way the American legal system works is so weird compared to here.

staydazzling · 31/05/2018 16:01

i wasnt either lemony it was quite a shock even for a crime doc.

I 'enjoyed' it... it was brutal and still unanswered questions.. why dif thry think they were so intelligent? Clearly high IQ's but why would you agree to put a body in your freezer? Why no dna? And why no dna with the prostitutes baby? Very very weird people. So arrogant- the notes too...just bizarre..

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 31/05/2018 16:18

I watched it and found it interesting, but was also shocked by how graphic the first episode was.

I'm not at all sure that Marjorie would even be able to give an honest account of what happened and her role in it. She clearly was a routine liar because she kept changing her story, but she also seemed to have a bit of a loose grip on reality so it was hard to tell which bits she knew to be a lie and which bits were a lie that she believed to be the truth.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 31/05/2018 16:20

Also, I was struck with how much faffing around there was about who should be in charge of which bits of the investigation. American movies and tv series often make inter agency antipathy a part of their story line, but I had always assumed that it was exaggerated for effect, but perhaps not.

I stumbled across this last week. I really enjoyed parts 1&2 but felt 3&4 didn't quite live up to my expectation. It's an unbelievable story.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 01/06/2018 23:25

I found the demonisation of people with mental illness difficult. She was a murderer but she had bipolar so you know.. figures

I also thought it unnecessary to show so much of the bomb aftermath.

It's got me in a proper mood for documentaries so far this week I've watched

Evil Genius
One More Shot
Life Animated
and

Weiner

I like ones that are about a person or group or family the best rather than "issue" ones

I watched this the other night. Their was so many people woven into it that for me it was a tad confusing. I believe he did not know/not involved and he was forced in to it completly. I feel for him and his whole family. She was evil, she had killed once before and i believe she had killed more of her ex husbands/partners. She was very very clever. I think i am going to rewatch it again. The women he was sleeping with should of spoke up long before the documentary was being aired to help the case.

I was listening to this story on a podcast I follow, Genration Why (ep 283). If you did that you could avoid the gore of the doco on Netflix.
