I’ve just watched this 5 part documentary on Sky Living and really enjoyed it.

Did anyone else watch it?

I've got the last 2 recorded to watch tomorrow. It's been fascinating

Been watching it too.

Will be interesting to see whether any of their theories re killers background etc come to light with the man they've arrested recently.

I had a quick peek on Wiki and it seems some of it is, he used to be a police officer!

Really ? Off to take a look.

I noticed that too! I had seen loads of adverts for the program and then it popped up in the news they had caught him so I tried not to read about him and see what the show said. Looked him up today and was surprised how accurate some things were

Read a bit more about how they caught him, truly amazing detective work! I wonder if there will be a legal issue either now or after this case with regard to how they came about his DNA links though. Just shows nothing is ever private! Eek.

I thought that too about the database they got a family match from.

Also I am surprised how far behind the USA , perhaps just California state , about DNA testing for those charged with offences.

Frightening thought though from the documentary was that at one time in the 70/80s there were 3 serial killers on the loose.

There is bound to be legal issues with the way they caught him. They didn't use a state held dna database but a comercial one. When people uploaded their dna, they didn't realise there was a chance that it could be used like that.

Whats intresting is it came about a week after an unidentified murder victim from, I think the 70/80's known as the buckskin girl, was identified in pretty much the same way. She was identified by a new charity dna doe project that are working on a few diffrent does. They caught lucky with her and she had a first cousin who had her on her family tree as missing presumed dead.

It's going to be intresting to see what comes from this in the near future.

Anyway, I didn't know this was on, so I have downloaded the first one to watch when dd2 goes to bed.
