That programme about the Cornish villagers invading Islington.
I was just walking along the street.
Windswept and not a spot of make-up...

cornish villagers invading islington? why?

Posey · 14/05/2007 21:39

You know when I wrote that I thought, "I have a feeling this is not the phrase it used to be"
My mum always said it to express surprise!

Because they feel their community is disintegrating (all services going, school, po etc) and they think no-one is listening. So they're going to the centre of the New Labour world, ie Islington, to see if they can be heard there.

oh good for them! did you look lovely

I can beat that! Hubby works at Granada and work mate needed shots of crying baby for programme on postnatal depression, asked hubby if could film our dd, we said ok but shots had to be blurred so couldn't really recognise her (but babies do look v similar really don't they?!) and they had to wait while she cried if she got hungry and we were warming her feed, no nipping! Anyway, they needed shots of a postnatal depressed mum rocking etc, and asked if they could film me for some 'filler' shots: no make up, hair all over, looked rough as a dog (and never had postnatal depression) and lo and behold: I'm on half the programme, not blured out looking dog rough and my name was on credits at end causing loads of folk to see what a moose I am and thinking i was depressed!

I was on Blockbusters in 1992.

One day while flicking through the channels we stopped at Challenge TV ... and there I was in my permed hair glory!!

Posey · 14/05/2007 21:52

No!! And I left the Blooming Marvellous catalogue out open at the page with the baby bean bag on a helpful hint as to a nice gift for letting them film dd! Ended up buying the thing myself!!

Posey · 14/05/2007 21:56

I almost put "well bu**er me" but thought that was rude!

Blooming eck posey, don't put that! Don't want hubby reading this and thinking that's the general response to being on telly!!!

moondog · 14/05/2007 22:02

I once visited a friend in Dalston, who was living in an old music hall. In the club that was joined on, - the labyrinth, they were making a film for channel 4, so we went to look, and i got asked to be in it as 'cloakroom girl'. I was a bit drunk so thought it'd be a good idea. At 3am i was saying my 2 lines, 'here are your tickets' and something about sheep. They made me wear platform boots and put my hair in a giant bun, i looked crazy.

walbert · 14/05/2007 22:09

..and in the background since they filmed dd in her cot in our room was all our manky 'make do' wardrobes and cardboard boxes from when we moved over a year ago with jumpers in! Lokked like a right scratter house! Why is it when you get a house and have to take everyones crap furniture as your'make do' stuff you never get round to buying proper furniture and still have the manky wobbly three legged plaster spattered wardrobe ten years later? Ah the lifestyles of the rich and famous ha ha!
