Does anyone watch this? It's the show where the woman 'rescues' stuff from the tip and gives it to her arty friends to upcycle, hopefully to sell at a profit for the previous owner. Said owners are doorstopped with the money at the end & asked what they're going to do with the lolly. They inevitably say it's going to charity.

Is it only me who thinks a lot of the finished projects are a bit Emperor's New Tat? Usually priced at ridiculous sums once the arty friends have charged for their time and materials. I do appreciate that sometimes a lot of effort & skill is involved, but not always.

My favourite was when she made a totally unusable side table out of broken skateboards.

And yet I can't stop watching! Grin

Oh yes , I watch this sometimes.

I love how she 'surprised people at the tip and turns a grotty old thing into a grotty new thing.

There was an episode once with some leather cushions that were turned into luggage at some huge cost.

It reminds me of a sketch on Harry and Paul where Harry Enfield's character runs a shop called 'any old shit and sells skip-worthy crap to people with more money than sense.

The presenter runs her own business doing the same thing so someone must be buying it! Shock

I know @icelolly99 - that's what makes my mind boggle! Grin

Hey, look at this thing I spent £250 on - at the special price my artisan mate did it at for the free advertising - and which I sold for £300. Isn't it a bargain?

The bestest bit is the bit at the end where she doorstops the tip people and half of them give the money to charity, the rest pocket it themselves gleefully Grin It's like the politicians being asked what they want for Christmas all over again.

That said, the skill and absolute joy and enthusiasm that some of the craftsmen demonstrate is lovely.
