First of all... the couple tonight are crazy.

Second of all, surely this show doesn’t really work, or is a bit faked. You can’t view a house, wait for your extension to be built or whatever, and then decide if you want that house. Surely it would be sold?

I wondered the same about when the viewings are conducted. The timings are off. I think they wait for the renovations to be completed and then conduct viewings.

PlateOfBiscuits · 31/01/2018 21:39

I was wondering the same thing when watching the previous episode where the couple really wanted that one specific house and wouldn’t move for any other. I need to know if they got it!

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 31/01/2018 21:59

It’s a bit of a bizarre show.. (I do like any property programme!) but few people have the money to move and renovate their existing house... surely you would just up your budget by that 30k or whatever.

LascellesMoustache · 31/01/2018 22:03

I always think they'd be crazy to move, surely if you are undecided in the first place you may as well live in your house that's just been renovated for a few more years at the very least, just to get the most out of the renovations?

And does anyone know who pays for the work?

afrikat · 31/01/2018 22:06

I did some googling about this last week as it was bugging me too! I found out:
The budget is the homeowners
Kirsty does do the new house design (or is involved at least)
The house hunting is more window shopping as they recognise they'll have sold when the renovations are done

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 31/01/2018 22:08

So in the case of that family who loved that specific house where they got married, they probably couldn’t have it?

OP posts:
SimonBridges · 31/01/2018 22:14

I do love it but I too can’t understand it.
Like said above, that couple last week said they would only move for that certain house.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 31/01/2018 22:21

I usually hate their revisited shows but I hope they do one so we can find out!

OP posts:
afrikat · 31/01/2018 22:22

I think that house was being rented out at the time so I can only assume they agreed to wait for the couple to sell theirs. That's what I'm telling myself anyway to avoid the fact it may all be a huge lie... I really like Phil and Kirstie!

Blackgrouse · 31/01/2018 22:51

I wondered about last weeks so I looked on Rightmove. The house they loved and their own house are both up for sale now so I assume they're trying to sell to buy it.

What I'd like to know is if they actually recoup what they spent on the renovations.

afrikat · 31/01/2018 22:55

blackgrouse good snooping!

AalyaSecura · 31/01/2018 22:55

Kirstie and Phil always seem to find mystical builders who can do extensions for £30k or loft conversions for £10k, so on that basis I would guess those who sell would recoup the investment! Whereas back in the real world...

PlateOfBiscuits · 31/01/2018 23:34

Blackgrouse you deserve a snoopers medal. Well done!

LascellesMoustache · 01/02/2018 10:37

Good snooping. Yeah I agree there needs to be a revisited version of this show, but maybe only after a few series when they have interesting stories to pick from

Woollypinksocks · 01/02/2018 12:46

Blackgroose please link to rightmove

Bluntness100 · 01/02/2018 12:50

Curiously I was thinking this also last night, I couldn't understand the timeline. It didn't make sense, unless they viewed houses when the renovations were done.

I also find it bizzare folks would spend so much money on their home then move.

I like the program, but for the first time last night I was thinking "well this doesn't make sense".

MiniCooperLover · 01/02/2018 13:13

For the first time watching it occurred to me that Phil took them for their first viewing and THEN Kirsty said '3 months later the building begins' ... right .... Phil's onto a loser the whole time really as once the issues with a house are resolved nearly everyone will say oh let's stay for an easy life?

LuchiMangsho · 01/02/2018 13:17

I think the timeline is the other way around (or so suggests their Twitter account) so they build first and when it is ready they do the viewings.
As for the lady who wanted to buy the house near her wedding venue, her house is on Rightmove now. And the other house is still on sale.

FlashTheSloth · 01/02/2018 20:09

I thought Phil was just showing them what they could get as it's obvious those houses would be gone. He often says "it's an example of what is out there/you can get for your money."

Blackgrouse · 01/02/2018 20:56

Sorry, just seen the replies. I'll see if I can find them both again and will post links if I do.

Ooh thanks blackgrouse

Blackgrouse · 01/02/2018 21:22

If you look at the sold prices for their street the price they're asking is a lot more, even taking into account the fact it's detached. I'm not so sure they will recoup what they spent.

I love the country cottage.
