Can't wait

OP posts:
Clawdy · 09/01/2018 23:09

Loved tonight's. Poignant, clever, and hilarious, and all in a half hour episode.

Butterymuffin · 09/01/2018 23:29

Another tremendously good one.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 09/01/2018 23:34

Beautifully sad. You can see that they really know their comedy history.
The Yewtree reference had me howling 😂

5foot5 · 10/01/2018 09:52

Beautifully done. Yes Yewtree had me spluttering as well, also the Janette Crankie jokes. I didn't spot the twist, I thought the story would be that he was terminally ill or something.

downthestrada · 10/01/2018 11:32

The Yewtree reference was a bit close to the bone but also a real reminder of how things have changed and figures that my parents used to laugh at (& some I recall from when I was v young) are now relics and rightly vilified. Very sobering. But beautifully acted and very clever again.

Yes. This exactly. I'm such a fan of all their programmes and I loved last night's episode.

CaptainHammer · 10/01/2018 21:22

Loved yesterday’s episode, so sad.

My favourite episode is A Quiet Night In. I love that there is basically no dialogue in it. I’m going to have to rewatch them all soon!

Lottapianos · 10/01/2018 21:32

They are SUCH a delight to watch. Every time.

Hoping for a terrifying episode next week!

Macauley · 11/01/2018 16:58

I’m just watching series 1 on iplayer. Just cried my eyes out watching 12 days of Christine. A quiet night in has been my favourite so far. It’s such a good series can’t believe I’m just finding it now.

RhiannonOHara · 12/01/2018 12:38

Bernie Clifton... was a wonderful episode. Really poignant. Great physical comedy too, and they got the tone exactly right with the mix of laughing at and warmth/respect for what Len called 'Heritage Comedy'.

They just know their stuff so well. Such a range of genres, tones, styles. They're genuine students of the form.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2018 23:42

I had no idea this existed until someone recommended The Devil of Christmas for my Christmas Eve Creepy Film .

I love LoG, Psychoville (sp) and generally anything Steve Pemberton is in (saw him in Dead Funny a couple of years ago)

I watched the two new ones today (loved them) then 12 Days and Cold Comfort ...brilliant .

I will work my way through them all

CaptainHammer · 13/01/2018 10:50

@70isalimitnotatarget I’d start with series 3 via iplayer this weekend. Series 1 and 2 are on Netflix but series 3 isn’t yet. 3 is currently on iplayer but only till tomorrow according to Reece Shearsmith on Twitter.

Macauley · 13/01/2018 12:18

Oh no I didn’t realise it was only up for a limited time. Will need to get watching series 3. Thanks for the heads up!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2018 18:09

Sooo, I've watched them all now except the end of the one where he finds the shoe.

Can anyone explain the very end of A Private View? He was restrained then we see Muriel Grey doing an introduction to the exhibit but eh?

If its not a spoiler , what happened right at the end?
TIA Smile

McGintyii · 14/01/2018 20:36

Just watched Bernie Clifton's dressing room and did not predict the end at all, what a great episode although I'm wiping tears from my eyes. I just adore these guys what absolutely brilliant writers and performers they are.

Packergator · 14/01/2018 20:40

Thought ‘Bernie Clifton’ was a bit predictable; in fact the first thing I said to my husband within 1 min of it starting was “Ah, one of them....” (removed to avoid spoilers!) Still very much enjoyed the two-hander (wink) tho. But the first episode was an incredible piece of writing!! I think the majority of it was written in iambic pentameter, which is a feat in itself. I always wished they’d do one set on a number 9 bus...

iklboo · 15/01/2018 16:03

I enjoyed Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room. Some nice acting and I got a little lump in my throat.

TheSassyAssassin · 16/01/2018 22:35

Well...we knew this one would potentially be a little darker and more off the wall...wasn't quite expecting that and was def on edge of my seat wondering what on earth was going to happen next but enjoyed it! Grin

5foot5 · 17/01/2018 12:51

Very clever. We had to sit there and work out the correct sequence afterwards.

estuarygirl · 17/01/2018 13:22

Just brilliant writing and acting. Binge watched the lot before they disappeared off iplayer. Although still tying to work out last night's one (Once Removed). If the Reece Shearsmith character ends up at the wrong no. house, how come the removal bloke goes to the correct one? Still trying to work it out! Don't think there any spoilers there.

FlipFlopFlappy · 17/01/2018 15:04

Just watched it. Am going to watch it again backwards as well. Loved it.

Sillysausage123 · 17/01/2018 15:06

The lost shoe episode was fantastic.
It started off as funny when you thought he was a bit obsessive over a shoe but then quickly became darker.
Reece Shearsmith is a brilliant actor

CaptainHammer · 17/01/2018 15:35

A great episode last night, well written.

estuarygirl I’m guessing because that’s where the for sale sign was.

estuarygirl · 17/01/2018 16:06

captain. of course, bit dim of me. was so wrapped up in trying to work out the reverse plot!

sortingmyselfoutslowly · 18/01/2018 21:06

Who was the redhead girl in Berrnie Clifton's dressing room... I'm sure she was on league of gentlemen?

I've only seen this series and they are so well made. I also really fancy Reece! Always have.

TheSassyAssassin · 18/01/2018 21:10

She was Kaylee in Car Share Smile
