Anyone watch? Just watching on catch up while I have lunch
I’m exactly the same height and weight as the lady, Anne-Marie, so finding it interesting.

I thought it was quite good for the time slot allotted to it. Nothing new though imho.

I think many people think there's some strange magic going on with people who are naturally slim and appear to eat crap, but this programme showed that there really isn't.

The one thing both examples had was an ability to self-regulate around food, and to be active in an everyday sort of way.

I have several friends like this; all eat everything in moderation, get lots of exercise which is built into their days, do not snack much and eat small portions. They also frequently leave good food on their plates and don't drink much alcohol.

Two of them are over 60; one is 70 and very fit.

I might give this a watch.

I'm 5'7 and 55-60kg, size 8. Always been slim, never put on weight. I eat what I want. I like baking and love chocolate, cakes etc.

But I've always been active. I love running and do this a lot. I am running round after two small children 6am-7pm at the moment, so on my feet nearly all day. I love food, love cooking, am vegetarian and cook most things from scratch, also hardly ever have takeaways because we're on a maternity leave tight budget. So all things that probably explain being slim.

DH lost a lot of weight by default when he moved in with me - he became more active, ate more veg and less processed food.

If we have chocolate/biscuits in the house, DH will constantly pick away at them until they're all gone. I'll completely forget about them, remember they exist after a couple of days, go to eat one and find the pack is finished.

Capt warbek...that happens in my house too...i like the odd custard cream now and again so buy myself a packet...have to hide them as no one else apparently 'can resist them' and its my fault for buying them and putting them within temptation range...err no..just dont eat them if your not hungry !
i hid them in the dog treat box last time..apparently the dog ate them all

The programme was ok I guess.

I spent my adult life obese and constantly dieting and it was only when I eliminated the type of food that I was addicted to (carbohydrates, starches, grains) and increased the amount of fat I ate that I became slim (in my 50s). That was nearly two years ago and I don't snack either and don't exercise except walking. The presenter did mention Intermittent Fasting (IF) which I practice daily only eating (lunch and dinner) between 1pm and 6pm.

These two people didn't seem to habitually snack and rarely ate out, eating home cooked-from-scratch meals and didn't drink alcohol.

Agree that everyday activity probably also relevant.

Someone who walks or cycles a lot to get around, walks dogs, has an active job or is just a fidgetter, always on the go person probably burns more calories than a more sedentary person who does a few half arsed gym/swim sessions a week and then goes to the bar or cafe because they've earned it.

I found it interesting because it made me think about why I’m the size I am. With the amount I drink and eat I should be much bigger but I only eat when I’m hungry and although I thought I didn’t do much exercise, my recent Fitbit purchase shows that I always walk at least 10000 steps a day. So nothing groundbreaking in the program but made me think

SecretSmellies · 14/11/2017 12:55

I found it interesting also, and inspiring. I am 3dtone overweight, and use food as a crutch.I say i both comfort eat and procrasti-eat.

What they did differently to me..... naturally self regulated....if I have a blow-out meal at night I still have my breakfast in the morning.
.... Incidental exercise.... plus, they both did 2 hours a week of really active exercise that they did not class as 'exercise' because it was just something they enjoyed.

So, i have taken inspiration. I have set my alarm to go off every hour and then I will do a couple of minutes of stretching / movements etc. I AM going to park the car further away so I have to walk farther etc. Plus maybe find again some decent exercise I love..... swimming /walking etc.

sweatylemon · 14/11/2017 13:06

I am 5ft 7”
Weigh 53 -54 kilos
It is what it is, I eat what I want.
I don’t think about food much. No secret, yes dull. Just don’t over indulge and am always rushing about.
Not genetic both parents overweight
How anyone can make a TV show about this is beyond me.

What I found completely irresponsible about this programme was even though the intentions seem to educate its all fictional. The guy Yemi is a sports nut who blogs about the latest running shoes, trialling the latest sports equipment and goes to Sports trade shows. Just check out his Twitter account or the Yemireview. Took me two minutes to realise what a waste of time it was watching the programme. It's like asking a long distance marathon runner why they are so slim, then ignoring because its because the rum 24/7. Utterly irresponsible to all those struggling to lose weight looking for answers. Even the lady was in gym gear before belreakfast so clearly she gets in a session before work. Hope that makes some who found it disappointing or depressing feel a bit better. We could all be slim if we did long distance running or a lot of exercise. But who has time!!
