have missed 30 mins of it ...cannot see that it is being repeated

Pinkchampagne · 19/03/2007 20:32

These poor women!

That was very distressing viewing.
That poor little boy who watched his mother being choked to death.

Don't know if it's being repeated, lulumama.
Did you see any of it?

so sad

lulumama · 19/03/2007 21:01

wathced the last half, terrifying

the lack of resources to actually really help these women is shockingly bad

vitomum · 19/03/2007 21:04

agree about the lack of resources. it is easy to understand why they become disulusioned with the system's ability to protect them

Pinkchampagne · 19/03/2007 21:06

I was very shocked at the lack of resources available too. The poor women were so terrified of their partners.

very upsetting and shocking

what got me is people saying why isn't she doing anything, and why aren't people around doing anything? fair question. but i'd like to know why aren't they asking questions of him? why is he doing this? why does he think he can get away with it? how can we stop him doing it?

Pinkchampagne · 19/03/2007 21:08

Totally agree, warthog.

OP posts:
vitomum · 19/03/2007 21:09

exactly warthog, those are the questions people should ask.

it really appears like the safest thing for women to do is to move miles away and start again. But that is such a hard thing to do and if you leave family behind these psycho men can turn on them instead. It really is such a trap.

Pinkchampagne · 19/03/2007 21:13

The way that womens partner was speaking to her on the phone was shocking

what do people think of the suggestion (made on the programme) that doctors should have a duty / responsibility to pass oin info re women being abused to other authorities?? would it just mean women were scared to get medical help / their violent partners would stop them going to doctors or might it save some v vulnerable women from further abuse / death?

vitomum · 19/03/2007 21:19

i think it is a very difficult question. if you act without the woman's consent then you really disempower her more. I don't think that helps in the long run because she still has to be the one to make the decision to leave - but there needs to be a hell of a lot more help there when she does. I think though that doctors should play a bigger role in reinforcing to the woman it is not their fault etc etc
