'Three Girls' - would you watch it with DS1 aged 15?

Did any of you watch this and think it would be good to watch with an older son? I have a night in with DS1 tonight who would like to spend some time together and watch something. I wanted to watch this, so selfish thought I admit, and thought it might be 'good for him' to watch it. Or is it so explicit we may feel a bit embarrassed watching it together - I can remember feeling that kind of discomfort myself anyway when I was a teenager 'in the olden days' Wink? We don't get much time together because of his much younger siblings and we are quite open with discussing things but would welcome some advice from anyone who's seen it.

Definitely depends on the teen.

I watched it last week and it's been on my mind ever since. It's a bit close to home- someone close to me was involved with part or the investigation into the systemic fuck ups that led to things not being investigated properly, and I know that it affected this person very deeply. So many missed opportunities to end the misery that these victims went through Sad

It was absolutely harrowing to watch and actually made me want to vomit at times. I just cannot imagine how those poor girls felt. They were children; absolute babies. Even the devil himself doesn't deserve what they went through Sad

I was away when it was aired so downloaded it last night and watched it all, yes it is harrowing but i think your son should watch it if he wants he is 15 and i am sure he could cope. Bloody hard watch though those poor poor girls my heartbroken watching it.

For those who have shown it to their teenagers/whose teenagers have watched it (and sorry if this seems a naive question) but is it just to be aware of the way the young women were abused in Rotherham, or is it also in some way protect themselves from abusers?

I found it very harrowing. I finished it a few days ago and I keep thinking about it. Those girls were failed by everyone. It's vital to talk to teenage girls about the issues but episode 1 is particularly awful and I'm not sure I could watch it with a teenager.
