I am already in tears, these boys are pissing me right off, one speaking to his mum like utter dirt.

Well I'm watching

motheroreily · 01/05/2017 21:16

SOrry posted too soon. Yes I'm watching.

That was a horrible scene just now

drinkswineoutofamug · 01/05/2017 21:18

Watching too. Only watched episode 1 last night , that had me crying with in the first 15 mins. Excellent acting

MarmaladeSoup · 01/05/2017 21:20

That scummy family of the lad who got the gun are really pissing me off! No remorse or compassion whatsoever.

MusicToMyEars800 · 01/05/2017 21:23

Marmalade me too! The acting is really good.

Angry that stupid mother sticking up for her scumbag son... ill or not she shouldn't be covering for him when a little boy has been killed.

That latch kids is giving me rage.

Horrible youths. No respect or moral compass.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 01/05/2017 21:29

How heartbreaking that this is all based very closely on real events.

The mums protecting their sons are just abhorrent.

MusicToMyEars800 · 01/05/2017 21:37

I feel sorry for the kid who hid the gun, he is obviously shit scared of them, and we can see why when they go around and just shoot people, It I so heartbreaking that any family have to experience anything like this Sad

I feel sad for the guy who hid the gun too. He was terrified. What do you do when you're in that position?
The rest of them- no sympathy at all. And not even for the parents. They must have known what their kids were getting involved it.

Voice0fReason · 01/05/2017 22:07

It's heartbreaking to watch. A child was murdered and some of them were just covering their backsides. Some lowlife scumbags had far too much control in the area.

Kitsandkids · 01/05/2017 22:09

I am pleased the mum at the end did the right thing and told the police Mercer and the rest were at her house that night. It must have been a hard thing to do. Her son begged her not to, he'd been hospitalised in the past and she'd basically been threatened not to tell on her doorstep but she still told the truth because she had empathy for Rhys' mother. Which the mothers of the other lads involved seemed to be totally lacking.

MarmaladeSoup · 01/05/2017 22:12

I'd also like to add that these lads are the most pathetic excuse for gangsters Ive ever seen. Riding around on BMX bikes with their hoodies pulled up, oooooh aren't they scary, not. Just stupid kids trying to look hard.

MusicToMyEars800 · 01/05/2017 22:12

Me too Kits her son obviously suffers mental health problems and the rest of the gang are just using him and treating him like a doormat.

Very powerful drama. The lady who plays Rhys's mother and 'Ned' Kelly are particularly good.

highinthesky · 01/05/2017 22:15

I feel absolutely livid and my blood is up.

I just don't understand how it is people tell lies. I understand fear, but whatever happened to humanity? Gang culture feels beyond the reach of basic decency. These microcosms need to be shamed out of existence by the majority.

ImperialBlether · 01/05/2017 22:18

It's ridiculous, the sentences they got. The one who was swearing at his mum got a supervision order and then got a four month curfew - he hadn't been out of the house for two years! What's the point in a curfew then?

MusicToMyEars800 · 01/05/2017 22:22

Imperial Shock that is just dreadful, it's makes me so sick how a life can mean so little when it comes to these sad excuses for human beings, they shoot a little boy and get out of prison in a few years to carry on with their lives Angry

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 01/05/2017 22:24

I was just reading up about all their sentences. Every one of them who got out after a shorter sentence went back in again for something else. Horrible, horrible bunch of lads.

AnneElliott · 01/05/2017 22:33

I'm watching it. Terrible tragedy and it's hard to watch the emotions of his mother.

drinkswineoutofamug · 01/05/2017 22:38

Mercer the baby killer, if that actually happened did he stop and think of what he had done? Felt guilt ? Or just shrugged it off like the cold hearted bastard he is. Hope his family were chased out of Liverpool for being the despicable scum they are.

ImperialBlether · 01/05/2017 22:46

I think his reaction on screen (anger) was probably what he felt. The gangs like to think they own the neighbourhood - he'd be furious that someone had had the nerve to do that.

thegreylady · 01/05/2017 23:47

What's with the 'wrong gun'?
It is such a cliffhanger yet totally heartbreaking. The funeral had dh and I in tears. The Everton theme was very poignant for us as we have two grandsons (aged 8 and 10) who are Everton supporters.
Liverpool is usually portrayed as a warm, close community yet there is this festering underbelly of sheer viciousness among some of the youth.

Kitsandkids · 01/05/2017 23:57

I think, from what I've read of the true case, they initially identified the wound as an exit wound whereas really it was an entrance wound after the bullet ricocheted off something else? Or something like that anyway, so I think the hole wasn't the size they expected from that gun but once they'd worked out exactly how the wound occurred they could prove it was that gun.
