I watched the first episode and enjoyed it very much. I have always liked RH Thomson. This version is much darker than the Megan version.
Someone asked if there has been an Emily series. There was, from 1998-2000, I believe. I was disappointed in it as I thought the lead was completely miscast; she was too moppet-like. They seemed to have missed the whole tone of the Emily books.
Canadian TV? Someone if it is good. Schitt's Creek is very funny. (I used to have a huge crush on Eugene Levy, back in his Second City/SCTV days,
.)
I also enjoyed X Company, Cardinal, (based on the books by Giles Blunt), and Orphan Black. Orphan Black is Canadian, but it would not have got off the ground were it not for funding by BBCAmerica. It's a joint production, BBCAm-Temple St production.
Also good, from my youth, Street Legal, Seeing Things, and more recently, Made in Canada, Twitch City and Being Erica. I think these worked because they were unashamedly Canadian (specifically, Torontonian). (I had heard that there was to be a Scottish version of Being Erica, but I've not seen any info recently.)
There was an earlier adaption of he Murdoch Mysteries which were very good as they were dark as the novels were. I recommend the novels, by the way, author, Maureen Jennings.
Republic of Doyle, with the very handsome Allan Hawco, was a very funny cop show set in St. John's Newfoundland. Oh look, here he is.
