I'm recording it, we were asked if we wanted to apply to be part of it when I wa pregnant with dd1. She goes to uni in September...

They're all grown up! I feel old.

They're all 17. They were born at the millennium.

My DS is 17 in a couple of weeks and is younger than these children. I think they were all born in 1999 rather than 2000?

They were born end of 1999 and beginning of 2000. Kids don't go to uni at 17.

Fantastic to see these kids. I'm amazed as many have agreed to continue being included, it's such a self-conscious age, and clearly they didn't sign up for it originally! They've changed so much since we last saw them. (Oh, and I can confirm Scottish kids can go to uni at 17. I certainly did.)

I loved the update. Really reassuring to see how much the parents trusted their kids to find their own way through to adulthood whilst still being really supportive.

I had a Y2K baby who is the same age as this gang. The programme is a bit behind where they are in RL. They will all be 17 now. Brilliant watching when they are his 'cohort' in life. I remember watching the very first episodes with my tiny child. Who will be going to uni next year and towers over me. It's making me very a bit tearful.

This made me a bit tearful too as have a DS who is 16 and I've followed this from the start as was especially interested having a baby at the same time the programme started.

Did anyone else think that the party looked way too much like hard work?? All that looking after and holding back the hair of drunk teens- no thanks!

And yes kids can go to Uni at 17 in Scotland as has been pointed out on many, many threads before.

Pragmatic Welsh farmers Mrscaindingle, I doubt many would be so forgiving! Not a chance in HELL I would be like that. Better for them all than being in a big town (love that she described it that way, we are similarly rural and I'd hate my teen to go through that rite of passage away in a 'big town' either! There's not much nearby in rural Wales). Although I lack the barn facility so that's a relief.

My dd was born at the end of 2000. So followed this from the beginning, I've always found it really interesting. She is involved in a similar study called child of the century. They come out every couple of years and interview her and us, ask her to tasks and examine get general health. They post us the results of the study they find.

so sad seeing the boy on his computer all the time. Didn't any of them do any sports or amateur dramatics?
