1990s documentary, can you remember it?

I'm really struggling to remember the name of it so can't search for it anywhere and it's really frustrating me .....

The theme was to go into ordinary people's homes and let them, usually couples, talk about their home and how it looks. It sounds very dull and mundane, but they chose a wide range of people and the simple discussion revealed a lot about the people. There was no interviewer or commentary, it was purely letting people sit on their sofa and talk.

There were many different people from different strokes. The elderly couple that still had garish 50/60 wallpaper and carpets. The new wealth Essex mansion where they changed their white sofa every 3 months. The council flat occupants etc etc etc.

I remember being captivated by it at the time and then never saw it again.

Can anyone else remember this show (think it was BBC but not sure)?

I loved this programme. Funny how we all remember the couple with the carpet. If I remember correctly, the carpet was fitted the day Kennedy was shot.

I am pretty sure that there were more programmes made than just the 6 that are on iPlayer.

I'd never heard of this before, but have now watched the first episode. It's excellent! I'm so sure I've heard similar conversations on Creature Comforts.

It's interesting how many of them have quite firm ideas about the decor and styling being feminine, masculine, girly. Also, that three of the men talk about the need for decor to 'say who you are' or 'make a statement about you', which isn't something any of the women identify as important.

This BBC archive wasn't something I was aware of - I bet there are all kinds of gems.

I remember one from the 80s which I think might have been called The Marriage or something similar, it followed the married life of a couple of newly weds with all their ups and downs. Bloody fascinating, well for nosey folk like me it was!
