Well, I stayed with it, and enjoyed the penultimate episode, couldn't wait to see where it all went. What a disaapointment with the final episode. So much we never found out, and ends left untied.

Also disappointed with the last episode. Very Hmm at them all building the snowman at the end.

Cal's accent! I marvelled that he managed to keep it up, it seemed like such an effort.

I was disappointed they killed the German. So many people in different countries have behaved cruelly when those around them do the same and incite them to do so that deciding they are bad people who need killed is overly simplistic. He was a good father to his daughter. If he had lived in the UK rather than Germany during the war he wouldn't have killed people in factories (if that's what he did i think they described what he had done in 1 throwaway sentence).
The 2 people with British accents who had behaved badly got away with it (and Harold caused far more people to die than Dieter with his bad decision not to prevent the war) where as those with German accents were punished. Callum should have given posh totty woman the elbow too.

I had to abandon after the first episode because the actor playing the main part is so dreadful. His voice was just ridiculous and it meant I couldn't focus.

Well, the ending was 'curious' and did leave quite a few ends hanging loosely. We never discovered what, if anything in particular, had caused Victor's issues apart from having suffered PTSD from his army service. However, I liked the way in which Victor and Callum's roles were reversed in the final episode and Victor is the one who understands what is going on in Callum's mind and saves him from himself. I saw Mr Lindsay-Jones actions/sacrifice as a way of trying to make some recompense for his failure to act before the war and he recognised he was just as much at fault as the anglo/german 'perfume lady' for simply doing nothing. As a result he suffered the direct personal loss of his wife and members of his family.

The whole business of Dieter marrying the mostly silent waitress (who exactly was she?) was odd apart from the fact that at least Lotte was left with a step-mother to care for her and I quite liked the way that the Nazi-Hunter lady developed and learned some lessons from Cal. I thought the American girlfriend was probably the most likeable character and I didn't mind them ending up together although he would drive you mad eventually with that voice and tilting head!

However, overall the end did feel a bit of a let down. I was waiting for the revelation of some great intrigue but it never really happened. Shame but I've definitely seen worse dramas on TV and I liked the period feel and the atmosphere.

I thought the ending was perfect
they had played with themes that would have overturned history
and then pulled it back beautifully to reality

Lotte was always an odd character
and I wish Calum had ended up with the Nazi hunter, but maybe Victor will
and the Perfume lady will roam France

as for the comment about stubble - look at newsreels

I'd never heard of Swiss Toni. I've just searched and he sounds like a toned down version of Cal's voice Grin The head tilt was very distracting once I noticed, thankfully not until later on.
