DH and I have just finished watching The Crown on netflix and loved it. It was good distraction from a family member's serious illness. Otherwise we are miserable. What are your most favourite TV series ever? Or what are you enjoying at the moment? And if you have time a quick explanation of why its good would be appreciated. We have Netflix and Amazon Prime, Virgin media. But am equally happy to buy DVD box sets if its something worthwhile. I do hope you can help. Xx Thanks in anticipation ...

Life In Pieces
UnREAL
One Mississippi

All have strong female leads.
LiP is a comedy: vignettes on family life, ensemble casting
UnR is drama although dark humour in places, Emmy nominated lead, it's about the machivellian machinations behind a Bachelor style reality show.
1M is a semi autobiographical drama from Tig Notaro, dealing with her mother's death, her relationships, coming to terms with her mastectomy and her relationship with her Stepfather who is somewhere on the ASD spectrum.

All Amazon Prime. All free.

Also op, if you enjoyed The Crown, did you watch Victoria on ITV? It was fantastic.

I would second The Mentalist. Simon Baker is a very engaging lead, and the premise is fun, but there's a darker edge to it which makes it compelling to watch.

DH and I loved Humans: the acting is good and the concept is thought-provoking.

If you want historical drama, go for The Last Kingdom - lots of edge of your seat drama but an easy on the eye leading man too!

Oh - hadn't realised this was an old thread!

OP is probably long gone by now!

Life in Pieces on Amazon prime. It's a light family comedy. Very watchable, each episode stands alone, so easy to dip in and out of when you feel like it.
