Which cbeebies programmes are best for 1 year olds?

I'm going to take the plunge and let dd watch a programme a day - she is 13 mths old, any views on which are the most suitable programmes? I had thought there was a section on the cbeebies website listing which programmes were for which age group but I can't find it.

teletubbies was definitely the biggest hit with my ds at that age. his face lit up, he let out shrieks of delight and bounced up and down. it was v cute watching him!

Tutter · 09/02/2007 13:14

at that age ds loved teletubbies (still does)

TheArmadillo · 09/02/2007 13:14

teletubbies was his favourite at that age because it was the only one he could really connect with as the others went over his head.

It will drive you up the wall though.

Another vote for Come Outside - my favourite current kids' programme, and it actually has really interesting bits showing how they make pencils/toothpaste/wellies etc. in the factory. Well, I enjoyed them anyway!

wheelybug · 09/02/2007 18:21

teletubbies & fimbles I think were the first to be noticed here.

wheelybug · 09/02/2007 18:21

don't forget the poo episode in Come Outside - that's a must !

lazyline · 09/02/2007 18:25

My favourite is Doodle Do! Who cares what DS likes?

incy · 09/02/2007 18:27

Teletubbies, fimbles, balamory. DS was a fan from about 18 months.

Bizzarely anything with Justin in such as Higgledy House and when he's on Tikkabila also seem to appeal. Must be the facial expressions...

DeputyMacDawg · 09/02/2007 18:30

Something Special with the lovely Justin.
My dd can't get enough of him.
Also teaches signing, if that's something you're interested in

Mercy · 09/02/2007 18:31

Yes, definitely Teletubbies and Somehting Special. (except the bear and lion episodes)

Come OUtside is really good but for older children - 2+ I reckon. It's very informative (I've learnt a lot from that programme).

deaconblue · 09/02/2007 20:14

Ds smiles and laughs when anything with Justin comes on. He seems to really like Razzledazzle and bits and Bobs. Waved bye bye to Bits this afternoon!!

chocolateshoes · 09/02/2007 20:19

DS- 19mths likes BoogieBeebies - I won't let him watch that Balamory style programme - can't emember the name - with Graany Murray....I can't stand it!!!

fryalot · 09/02/2007 20:21

dd 2.7 & ds 1.5 both LOVE Boogie Beebies.

hermykne · 09/02/2007 20:24

toddworld? its animated but seems v attractive to them.

CocoLoco · 09/02/2007 20:45

Teletubbies
Boo
Pingu
Boogie Beebies

Stay far, far away from Underground Ernie if you value your sanity....

divastropwantstodrop · 09/02/2007 20:58

the only cbeebies programe dd2(14 months) looks at atall is big cook little cook.she seems to prefer top gear though.....

me too!-that is so awful.as is doodle do.

come outside is brilliant,as is something special.ds2 has always liked it but now he's older he copies all the signing, which can only be a good thing.

Teletubbies and boogie beebies for DS (19 months) Doodle do for me, DS has just learnt to say dooodoo when he wants me to put the telly on...

mum18772 · 09/02/2007 21:23

Pocoyo is the first and only children's programme my son (now 23months) has ever taken an interest in - it's only on for 5 minutes per episode and he used to watch it every day at 3pm on ITV (think schedule has changed now) from the age of 8 months! He now has the DVD (his only DVD!) and three reading books and a Pocoyo annual and soft toys - he just loves it - quite educational too and gives you the chance to talk about what he is watching! A must!! Some cute characters!

Beccadillo · 09/02/2007 21:23

dd (nearly 3) and ds (1.5) love Justin on Something Special and both love signing with him, and dd particularly loves Pippin and Aunty Mabel (except today's which had some weird reunion between them on a landfill site, but don't let that put you off). I really worry that they watch too much TV but I suppose that's life..

pookey · 09/02/2007 21:44

Ds says 'beebies' when he wants to watch tv. I think something special is good as not too overstimulating and ds (18 mo) watches it through usually spellbound! Boogie babies and doodle do are popular aswell. He likes come outside which is weird cos it is sooo oldfashioned but again not overstimulating. He likes 'me too' but not balamory - go figure. He does not like cartoons and only likes the shows with costumed/muppet types when they are singing. I think basically for a 1yo Something Special is fab cos justin has an expressive smiley face and that is what babies respond to.

tigertiger · 09/02/2007 21:46

i agree with pocoyo, and it's narrated by stephen fry, so i figure that although ds is watching telly, at least he's hearing someone speak proper english!
