I do and I am really happy with my nanny-but it's the "what if"?
Am guessing nanny hadn't been around long-mind you-was three months befoe I left current nanny overnight.

i thought this was rubbish - usually they have a twist and its not what you think - this one was too obvious from the start

TLC123 · 05/02/2007 22:29

no twist then?? that was a disapointing ending!

nutcracker · 05/02/2007 22:30

I am confused about one bit. In yesterdays episode Rachel told the girl taking pics in thepark, that she had told her what to do so just do it.

What was that all about then ? How was she invloved ?

TLC123 · 05/02/2007 22:32

In court in her second statment she said she didn't go back to the house after the petrol station, but she did, saw the police cars and ran away, so she lied about that, or is it bad writting!

thelittleElf · 05/02/2007 22:33

As i'v ealready said - i'm a nanny and i'm deffy not crapping myself. My employer is great, been with the family for over 8 yrs and the children are part of my life...deffy not just a job to me

It makes me so cross, that there have NEVER been any programmes that put portrays us in a good and positive light! I work bloody hard, and always put 'my girls' first!

TLC123 · 05/02/2007 22:33

go to the police with the photo of the bruises on the babies face and tell them the mother did it I think.

nulnulcat · 05/02/2007 22:34

she played queen victoria in some mini series dont ask me how i remembered that my memory is really weird sometimes!

mysonsmummy · 05/02/2007 22:34

she told her to show them the picture of poppy with the bump on her head making out the mum had done it. the girl had no visa and she said shed tell on her.

nutcracker · 05/02/2007 22:35

Ahh right I see, wonder why she did as she was told though, mind you rachel was nuts, thats reason enough I suppose.

I thought it was gonna be the dad tbh and he'd done it cos he didn't want to pay the money anymore.

TLC123 · 05/02/2007 22:36

I agree, I am a childminder, we never get any good press either, we are always the badies on tv programmes, neglecting children etc

thelittleElf · 05/02/2007 22:42

TLC123 - Glad to hear i'm not the only one who's fed up with it! I live in hope that one day, we'll get the recognition we deserve!

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 10:12

Looks like the twist was, that there wasn't one, lol!
Thought it was good anyway,, gosh how unhinged was that Rachel...OMG...big chip on her shoulder from being not #1 anymore once the lil brother was born....now, I can understand sibling rivalry etc...from the eyes of a child, but come on, when you grow up then surely you should be able to see the situation for what it was?

littleelf, not a Nanny, but I don't think there is a reason for any Nanny to have to crap herself, it's a drama, but it did highlight maybe just how careful you must be, i.e. not just go by CV, but do the CRB, etc..which, I would think most people will do.

As for it's always the Nanny / Childminder, I think there are plenty of programmes that show the parrents as the Baddies, too, though. I think, if you are involved in a certain occupation then you are just bound to notice it more if there is another bad thing shown...i.e. plenty of programmes where Nurses, Doctors, Policement, Teachers and so on are shown in a bad light too, but you probably are more likeky to notice it when it's your profession...iykwim.

Crazydazy · 06/02/2007 10:48

To be honest I just thought it was going to be the mother that was the criminal - that seemed to me to be more believable.

I mean how can anyone become so deeply disturbed just because her mother "had less time for her"????

Great TV though. She was a great actress who played Rachel.

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 10:50

crazydaisy....oh there are those people around! Sadly I can believe it.

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 10:51

NOt suggesting that that was the only reason why that Rachel was so disturbed, there was probably some chemical imbalance anyway, that was tipped over the edge, or something like that.

foxinsocks · 06/02/2007 10:52

I thought the nanny was great too. That scene with her in the loo on the verge of breakdown was marvellous.

Can't help thinking of the Harry Hill TV Burp take the piss scenes (which are hysterical if you haven't watched them).

Also, how thick were Mike and Roisin? The affair between Rachel and the dad of Joe was about as obvious as it could have been! Why else would he have been defending her!

Crazydazy · 06/02/2007 13:00

Thought that Roisin was a bit hard faced about it all, probably cos she didn't have kids of her own.

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 14:14

foxinsox, lol...I also thought it was sort of pbvious that there was something between Joes dad and the Nanny...however, how disgusting that he still defended her after finding out that tehre is a high possibility of her killing his Baby...shocking!
I loved the way teh Nanny was played, talking in that childish manner etc...and yeah that "breakdown"...must say I thought at that time she might try to commit suicide.

annh · 06/02/2007 21:54

I have a nanny and it didn't make me feel sick as I thought the scenario far-fetched. I can't imagine any circumstances in which I would employ someone without checking ANY references, or have an 18-year old in sole charge of a child (the nanny was actually 24 but on her fake CV was apparently 18), or leave them alone overnight with my child after they worked for me for a week! Wouldn't pay them in cash either .....

MummyPenguin · 06/02/2007 22:56

I was a bit disappointed with the ending too. I thought there was going to be a real twist. She was definately bonkers, that Rachel/Leanne bird.
