Maybe everyones dissappointed with Tuesday's episode? I was. Tonight the episode seemed to plod along without really going anywhere. Grant didn't tell Mark he's his father and the funeral has dragged into a second episode. Someone said the futher up that EE don't like to show adults hitting lads youngers than them. So true as Grant goes and punches Ian. Its always Ian that gets lamped ain't it! Pam's sister was annoying making snide comments about the Caulker's flat on the morning of the funeral. Whos that guy who turned up at Dot's then?

SarcasmMode · 08/09/2016 21:04

I believe it's Colin celeste he was the first gay (along with his partner Simon) on the square and I believe one of the firsts in British TVs. He pre dates the Mitchell's. Late 70s/early 80s I think?

I'm only 26 so didn't watch it then but when I used to have TV Gold I watched a fair few episodes on there.

MrsJayy · 08/09/2016 21:07

Ive not seen tuesdays/thursdays yet will catch up with it tomorrow when Dd is in.

celeste83 · 08/09/2016 21:12

ah right ok thanks for clearing that up Sarcasm

Where Jay dissappeared to then? Last we saw was him hiding. Would have thought he would have gone to the funeral to support Ben.

SoTheySentMeA · 08/09/2016 21:18

I thought Pams scenes were very good tonight. Her grief was so real. Made me cry Sad

LineyReborn · 08/09/2016 21:27

Michael Cashman! Isn't he an MEP?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 08/09/2016 21:28

Barry was Colin's partner - Simon was later on (tiffany's brother) who slept with her boyfriend Tony 'ills. That was mid-late 80s - early Eastenders.

I had stopped watching for a while when the Cokers and Vincent's family were inroduced - what's the relationship between Cokers and Claudette/Donna please!

NuggetofPurestGreen · 08/09/2016 21:29

Sorry I meant Colin and Barry were mid 80s, Simon/Tony were mid 90s!

Tibblesthecat · 08/09/2016 21:30

Pam was excellent this evening (as she usually is). The goodbye scene and the market scene was especially poignant.

I had to wiki Colin as I don't remember him at all. Am waiting now to see whats the point of his return.

Jay said he would support Ben but then Ben ran off potentially leaving Jay to deal with the police on his own. Not very fair as Jay is already in trouble with the police. I'm not sure if I was Jay, I'd be too bothered turning up to help Ben after that.

So is Grant staying in it? I hope so

MrsJayy · 08/09/2016 21:38

Pam was claudettes social worker for claudettes fostering they became friends

HarryPottersMagicWand · 08/09/2016 21:45

Ben didn't run off though, Grant dragged him off and said he could mess up the court case by being there.

That deaf thing was just a figure of speech that Ben had to pretend he didn't see anything that night and didn't point the finger of blame at him.

Tonight was very sad. Poor Pam. She is very good. I reckon this might split the Cokers up. Pam already isn't overly happy about the Christine thing and she is pulling away from Les again and when she is trying to get some support from him, he isn't there for her.

Courtney isn't actually bad so Ian's comment was stupid anyway, plus he doesn't actually know her.

Tina is doing my head in. Grow the fuck up you whiny toddler!

Tibblesthecat · 08/09/2016 21:49

I know Grant told Ben to run but Jay doesn't......?

Courtney is very pretty, as is Mark. Grant has been given some beautiful children :).

celeste83 · 08/09/2016 22:00

I think the Caulkers will split. Paul was what held them together.

SarcasmMode · 08/09/2016 22:08

That's right Nugget completely swapped them both around in my head for some reason.

HouseOfMouse · 08/09/2016 23:49

Michael Cashman was an MEP but is now in the House of Lords so that is probably a first for EE.

MagpieCursedTea · 09/09/2016 00:07

I forgot to check the credits to see if he was listed as Lord. Did anyone notice?

harverina · 09/09/2016 00:09

Just catching up.

Can't stand Tina and how selfish she is asking Sonia to choose her over Dot. How pathetic. Wish Sonia would get rid of her.

EnidButton · 09/09/2016 02:00

Good episode. Pam's sister was a nice touch.

Only knew who the guy at Dot's was because I read a mini spoiler a couple of weeks ago. Also saw his character and his boyfriend in an article about the first gay characters in various soaps. I think they had the first gay kiss in British soap.

Watch the clip of Dot reacting to Colin's boyfriend. Shows how far Dot's character has come but then again she was being weird about going to the wedding wasn't she? Maybe not that far after all.

EnidButton · 09/09/2016 02:04

Clip is from the 80's btw so no spoilers. Grin

OhTinky · 09/09/2016 06:55

Thought Grant was talking a lot of sense when he was chatting to Phil in the hospital about Phil needing to support Ben at Paul's funeral.

Also really like Grant's relationship with Jane. They get on better than Jane and Ian, who seems to ignore her!

What was that random bit where Sylvie did the splits in front of boring Sonia and selfish Tina? She could have broken a hip the speed she dropped to the floor! Who knew she was so mobile?!

Jasonandyawegunorts · 09/09/2016 07:34

According to wikipedia Dot spread aids rumours about Colin around the square.
She was horribly nasty in the first few years wasn't she, interfering, gossiping busybody. Like in the first few months when she sent the "brown heathens what prey to mecca and run the shop" poison pen letters.

MrsJayy · 09/09/2016 07:38

Dot used to be a nasty bigotted women wrapped up as a good christian her character has mellowed over time

MrsJayy · 09/09/2016 07:40

Oh so she did I remember her sending poison pen letters..

It was really her as well. I was expecting a double when she went down.
