MsInterpret · 16/07/2016 19:59

Labyrinth

BackforGood · 16/07/2016 20:08

The old, animated Disney ones - Jungle Book, 101 Dalmations, etc.
then, as they got older, mine have loved ET, Dirty Dancing, and even Footloose Grin

Am now trying to convinve my ds to watch the old Peter Sellars 'Pink Panther' films, I reckon they'd be right up his street.

mamapants · 16/07/2016 20:08

Oh yes loved labyrinth, ghostbusters and back to the future.
There's also a few up there I've never seen, will need to check them out.

Oliver

Daffodil90 · 16/07/2016 20:11

A teen one but The Breakfast Club

Hassled · 16/07/2016 20:15

My DCs are all teenage or older - and recently I managed to get 2 teenage DSs to sit through When Harry Met Sally (I did leave the room during the diner scene :o). Anyway - they loved it, and they loved The Breakfast Club, although hated Pretty in Pink.

And Jaws has been another success - they mocked the shit fake shark, but were genuinely tense throughout. Independence Day went down well too.

mamapants · 16/07/2016 20:25

I just watched independence day earlier this weekhassled probably haven't seen it in about fifteen years. DH had never seen it Shock
We both enjoyed it.
Would also be excited to watch Robin hood prince if thieves with them. I know lots of people don't like it but I always loved it.

Drop Dead Fred. One of my favourite films when I was younger but I'm actually surprised I was allowed to watch it looking back. It's a 15 and definitely not for young children. I doubt my nan knew what was in it at all.

I have introduced Labyrinth, DD was scared and DS thought it was okay.

DS loves Harry Potter which I am chuffed about.

Not sure really, a lot of films I liked as a child I don't like anymore. I really don't like Mary Popping despite loving it as a child, same with a lot of the classic Disney films. Not The Little Mermaid though, still love that.

The Railway Children. That was always good. Watched that over and over as a child. I never properly got what happened to the dad, I need things spelling out quite clearly, I don't do hints Grin.

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 16/07/2016 22:38

DS enjoyed watching the Italian Job (Michael Caine version) and the early James Bonds when he was about 9.

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 16/07/2016 22:41

Posted too early. DD and I loved watching The Sound of Music together.

CoolCarrie · 17/07/2016 17:54

Willow
which We are watching at the moment on Channel 5!

Vdara27024 · 17/07/2016 20:57

We are sitting watching Ghostbusters right now with 6 year old DS, can't believe it's 32 years old...I can still remember watching it in cinema with brother sharing a Twix! Last weekend was The Goonies, some films are true classics and still make me laugh!!!

DocMcFanjo · 17/07/2016 21:01

Not sure if it counts as a classic (it does to me) but "Now and Then" with Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell et al as the grown up versions of the kids. Still love it.

EverySongbirdSays · 18/07/2016 00:08

In our house we rewatched and rewatched The Goonies, Sound Of Music, Labyrinth, Wizard Of Oz, Santa Claus The Movie and a Christmas Story.

To the person asking about The Railway Children - the Dad got sentenced to Hard Labour for a crime he didn't commit (some sort of fraud) - I read the book as a kid. Boring, overall, but with a good start and finish.

youngestisapsycho · 18/07/2016 22:29

I have got my DD watching all the following I loved when I was younger....

Jurassic park trilogy

Davros · 19/07/2016 14:15

absolutelynotfabulous · 19/07/2016 16:46

I've got Psycho waiting in readiness for the next rainy day. With dd, 14. Hope she appreciates itSmile.

Davros · 19/07/2016 21:09

My DD watched it when she was 12 and immediately guessed who dies and when!! She loves The Birds, especially the man whose eyes have been pecked out! Oh dear, I'm a bad mother aren't I?Grin

JackieAndHyde4eva · 19/07/2016 21:11

Two I watched recently were into the west and the black stallion. DSIS and I loved those films as children and had the recorded on VHS. We watched them constantly. Looking forward to showing my DC Darby O'Gill and the little people.

JackieAndHyde4eva · 19/07/2016 21:13

Oh and Jack and Mrs Doubtfire were as popular with mine as they were with me and DSIS too.

absolutelynotfabulous · 19/07/2016 21:24

davros I remember watching Birds when it came out in the 60s. I was in Primary school. The eyes pecked out scene was the talk of the yard for months.

redexpat · 19/07/2016 21:36

Have actually just bought the sword in the stone and Robin Hood the Disney version to watch with dc.
