Anyone watching this, about the Syrian refugees?

Yes, I watched this. It is hard to believe that this is happening now and there doesn't seem to be any proper international response to help. It makes me feel helpless.

Imagine if it was the UK we would expect help from all around the world and we would probably get it.

Everyone should watch this programme.

Everyone should ask themselves why wouldn't you want these people to come to your country and why wouldn't you welcome them with open arms. Even if you are a complete thick skinned idiot - surely you can see that these are just people like any of us, giving up everything to provide their families with the safety and security that we are so lucky to take for granted.

I was out tonight, and will be out for the next two nights but I have recorded. The situations are heartbreaking. They had so much in Syria, and are reduced to living like beggars and risking their lives at sea.

Yes I'm watching. Heartbreaking and remarkable. I'm not sure I would have the strength to do what they've done.

I've been watching and forgetting to breathe. That 11yr old Syrian, Isra'a, is unforgettable. You're right, AgentP, you'd think there would be a longer thread here.

I've watched the first 2. Have recorded tonight's and will watch it tomorrow.

I've said that these are just people like us. But watching this has really driven it home for me. They just want the best for themselves and their children - just like we all want.

I wish I could do something to help. It's heartbreaking.

I watched it last night and was almost moved to tears.
I felt disgusted at the end seeing that in the UK we only take 2 refugees for every 10,000 citizens (paraphrasing) whereas a Scandi country (Sweden?) takes 13 per 10,000. And we have our gutter press bleating about being 'full up' and why don't other countries take some, that sort of sentiment.

I really came away wanting to become an aid worker, or to help them come to our country, or fostering orphaned/abandoned children, or something.
So sad.

No, Sweden has taken 33 per 10,000 of their population, to our 2.

I agree it should be shown in schools. It is heartbreaking to watch and makes you feel very helpless. It makes me so angry how the migrant crisis has been portrayed by some sections of the media.

So glad to see this thread! I wanted to post after episode 1 which I found shattering, but was scared in case I got attacked (pathetic I know). Still have to watch 2 and 3, and try to compel DD and DP. There needs to be a massive international plan to support people in such dire straits. And here we are squabbling about the EU.
