... that it's totally obvious who the killer is?
Not sure whether to watch the second part tonight.

not a very popular programme then...

Ah but do you not think that is what we are meant to think?
I am trying to assume that there has to be a further twist. How about the bizarre/repulsive "It's a woman" angle? Did you not spot Issy van Randwyck in ludicrous tiny role at hotel in Oxfordshire? Is it possible her character will suddenly assume a greater significance...

emkana · 22/01/2007 20:13

No I didn't spot her, must admit I've never heard of her! Where was she?

I'm hoping you're right, might give it a chance!

She introduced Michael Brandon at his seminar and was later seen lurching off pissed with Teresa Banham - the actress playing the pathologist who always "gets her man" and who had to deal with the poor receptionist's body the next morning.
Issy is a Baroness and does loads of music theatre/cabaret (incl. Fascinating Aida) usually.
She had a baby a short while ago AFAIK so either the director is a chum giving her an easy afternoon's work (this could be true - Edward Hall is Sir Peter's son and usually spends his time running an all-boy theatre company in Oxford ) or that character grows in importance in part two.
But frankly emkana I feel I am clutching at straws

Carmenere · 22/01/2007 20:24

You could be right but I am going to watch it anyhow.

WestCountryLass · 22/01/2007 21:00

Do you think it is who I think it is though

Carmenere · 22/01/2007 22:22

It was too obvious....

emkana · 22/01/2007 22:36

Disappointing.
I wish I hadn't bothered with the second part now.

how strange was it that we had Makepeace in last week's one and Dempsey in this one. Do you think they turn up to interviews as a duo still?

CatBert · 22/01/2007 22:54

Within 3 seconds of Brandon being on screen, DH says "it's going to turn out to be him..."

I hate it when he's right.

But I also thought it was so obvious, there surely had to be a twisty end.

Alas.

bundle · 23/01/2007 11:10

I thought this was hysterically bad - it's replaced Midsomer Murders in my "almost too bad to be good" telly

foxinsocks · 23/01/2007 11:12

that blonde policewoman is just awful

I sky +d it to watch (while watching Waking the Dead which is clearly trying to win an award for Most Complicated and Unlikely Murders ever staged) - it's even worse without the ad breaks. That much bad acting and dreadful writing is too much condensed into an hour!

Marina · 23/01/2007 11:15

I could not agree more. Now feel all dirty at having watched such complete and total tosh! (Don't normally see this programme).

bundle · 23/01/2007 11:17

do you think Waking The Dead and Trial and Retribution are intentionally funny? In a kind of "French & Saunders couldn't do it any more deadpan & predictable" way...?

bundle · 23/01/2007 11:18

quite good for knitting to though Marina..

foxinsocks · 23/01/2007 11:20

I defy anyone not to laugh out loud at the Fakirs and FuzzyWuzzies in WTD last week

(and do like the way Marina had to say - don't watch this programme normally - just in case we associated you with such awful rubbish - as if we would marina!)

Marina · 23/01/2007 11:21

I knitted, I repaired a well-used tiny ballet skirt, I even sewed on a Beavers badge.
They have got to be intentionally crap though, haven't they bundle...and it was Edward Hall, son of Sir Peter, at the helm. Do you think he just thought, WTF, I'll take the money and play the whole thing for laughs...

Marina · 23/01/2007 11:22

snurk. I am bang up to date with quality TV and DVDS FIS and just fancied some vegetating!

ChipButty · 23/01/2007 14:41

My DH only watched Part 2 and knew it was Brandon within seconds. Nooooo! I said. That's far too obvious! I'll keep my trap shut next time! PS Victoria Smurfit - if you are reading this - do try and smile more, dear!

Marina · 23/01/2007 15:57

She might strain a ligament if she did that ChipButty. My dh knew within 30 seconds too.
