Thanks South

notquitehuman · 22/04/2016 22:03

The back and forth going/not going shit was the worst part of this week.

Another spoiler. Lots of gruesome twosomes coming up in the next couple of weeks!

I think I must have missed Thursdays episode.

The Linzi storyline is really tough. EE, IMO, have thrown a real question mark over the whole affair by showing Jay finishing with Linzi once he discovered her real age. And afair they didn't actually have sex? Therefore there is no statutory rape involved? And yes,I think plenty of 14yo are emotionally mature enough to know what they are doing and the lies etc actually indicate they know what they are doing iyswim? It's such a tough one and that's why I think it makes the media so often and evokes so much discussion.

Plus I think I missed Thursday's because I have no idea what Lou did to piss Denise off and last I saw Tam said he wasn't going round the world to Mas and then suddenly they are all going!

As an aside - I'm always extremely impressed with the accurate predictions on here of future plots!

Stole a bottle of wine from the minimart and midlife crisis type thing becuase an online date took one look at him and left.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 23/04/2016 14:36

Agree kidding. In real life I have zero tolerance for older men (or women) and underage girls (or boys) like in the recent footballer case (Johnson??). But I am totally on Jay's side in this case and I find it unsettling. I suppose it's because he really didn't know and ended it immediately as you say.

SheHasAWildHeart · 23/04/2016 14:58

Jay should have at least told Ben the truth. Ben has confided in his lots of times. Or tell Sharon. Tell someone!!

southeastdweller · 23/04/2016 14:59

I expect Ben will soon regret sending that text to Linzi from Jay's phone.

SheHasAWildHeart · 23/04/2016 19:42

Why were Ben n Johnny making eyes at each other?

Raia · 23/04/2016 19:43

iirc Ben and Johnny had a bit of a fling, or at least flirtation, before Johnny went off to Italy

jkdnanny · 23/04/2016 22:24

I think its the not telling people what happened with louise that might also bite jay up the bum. ie her trying to kiss him. I suspect when all this blows up louise might jump on the bandwagon and say that jay tried it on with her too. She's obviously developed a crush on him and her annoyance with thestar/linzi thing is more out of jealousy rather than concern over the age thing

harverina · 24/04/2016 14:56

I've found this week quite emotional! I like tam and it's a shame to see him leave. I noticed they played "the music" at the end - does that mean that the actors have left for good? If so then that's a real shame as they are probably two of the best way on the show.

I think what the Jay/Linzi storyline highlights is the quandary people find themselves in in RL when a friend or family member is accused of something as awful as having sex with a minor. They see the person day in day out, including the really lovely aspects of their personality, so it is hard to believe that they would do something so stupid and abusive. We see a nice side of Jay constantly so to those who are feeling uncomfortable at taking his side, I think this is probably quite natural (and what the script writers probably hope for!), even though The rational side of you knows that it is absolutely wrong and potentially abusive. So far Jay has been misled so morally he hasn't done anything wrong but legally he has - kissing can be sexual contact. The photos would be child pornography etc. And it's all his word versus Linzi's too.

My view on it is that she has misled him, and if I was her parent there would be a huge lesson to teach her here in terms of dishonesty and her essentially putting a young adult in a position where he has broken the law. However she is 14 and 14 year olds don't have the same rational thought as most adults and often don't think
Of consequences before they act. That is exactly why there are laws to protect them. So while she isn't to blame, I would want any child of mine to accept that certain actions were wrong and could get people into trouble - and put themselves at risk. Jay may not have been a nice guy and she could have been in danger.

The fact that an 18 year old is playing her doesn't make it easy to empathise with her though.

BlueThursday · 24/04/2016 18:29

Aw Tam and Nancy got a Julia Smile

MagpieCursedTea · 24/04/2016 18:38

I'd have been disappointed if Tamwar didn't get a Julia!

mrswhiplington · 24/04/2016 19:49

What's a Julia?

BlueThursday · 24/04/2016 20:03

I think it's properly called "Julia's Theme" which is an alternative to the duff duffs.

It's plinky music that is used in more emotional rather than dramatic endings and it leads to the end theme.

I've only seen one other pp mention this, but I think it's looking like that builder guy (Andy?) is Ronnie's stalker.

I'm wracking my brains trying to figure out what he wants with Stacey though. He's got Martin out of the way for a couple of weeks, and the look up to the window and smile between them shows something's going to happen, but why?

If he's Ronnie's stalker then how does Stacey come in to this?

southeastdweller · 24/04/2016 20:15

Something to do with Archie, maybe?

unimagmative13 · 24/04/2016 20:15

Is he maybe related to Carl White?

unimagmative13 · 24/04/2016 20:16

Yes - I was reading something the other day that jogged my memory about Ronnies brother

nancy75 · 24/04/2016 20:20

Well Stacey killed Archie so you could be on to something there, I did wonder if the stalker might be roxy, blames Ronnie for everything going wrong in her life?

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 24/04/2016 20:31

I totally forgot about Archie! That's a link then.

Hmm, intriguing...

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 24/04/2016 20:33

Just been Wikipedia-ing and seen that Glenda (Ronnie & Roxy's mum) was talking on the phone to Danny, their brother on the New Year's Day episode. Wonder if this could mean something?

VashtaNerada · 24/04/2016 22:24

I do like the way people in Walford politely wait for one story to finish before continuing with their own... Babe calmly filing away the photo of Les as Christine for a quiet moment... Claudette hiding in a cupboard somewhere waiting for her big entrance... How very British of them all Grin
