I don't think I've actually cracked a smile yet.

I didn't get it either.
It's not a good sign when you have to be told when to laugh and who she's impersonating.
I'm sure she's just lovely as a person, but for me shes the Emperors New Clothes.

suzannecaravaggio · 12/01/2016 15:44

tastes in humour certainly do vary dont they Dottypotter!
who is your favorite comedian?

dottypotter · 12/01/2016 16:10

ken Dodd and Peter kay. Naturally funny, clean jokes and impressions. Ken Dodd a legend. Cannot imagine one of them trying to portray someone as a thief and trying to get a laugh. FGS what is funny about the Judi Dench sketch?

suzannecaravaggio · 12/01/2016 16:18

Like I said Dotty, tastes vary
and jokes rarely withstand explanation!

each comedian and genre has it's fans and detractors, cant we all try to discuss a program without insulting each other?

To me Tracey Ullman is also naturally funny

dottypotter · 12/01/2016 16:38

where was the insult. I think she was insulting dame judi to be honest? Ive yet not heard from anyone why it was funny to portray someone as a thief?

suzannecaravaggio · 12/01/2016 16:43

jokes rarely withstand explanation

KeepTheFaithNow · 12/01/2016 16:43

The point of the joke is we all trust Judi Dench, so she cold get away with anything.

G1veMeStrength · 12/01/2016 16:55

I thought judi dench was doing a cameo Blush In my defence I didn't have my contacts in...

Obs2016 · 12/01/2016 19:53

Thought it was funny.

katemiddletonsmama · 12/01/2016 20:10

Rupert Front is looking a bit rough, isn't he? Actually, I've heard jd is allegedly taking legal action for defamation.

katemiddletonsmama · 12/01/2016 20:12

My autocorrect won't let me type g r I n t.

Am lying about J.D. I know her in R.L. and she'd find it funny.

Nodowntime · 12/01/2016 20:20

I only saw a part of the JD sketch when they were plugging it on Graham Norton show, and it was enough to think ugh, cringe, won't be watching this.
Yeah, did remind me a bit of Little Britain which I loathe (it has some funny or on point bits, but they are extremely rare) but obviously LB is a massively popular show so each to their own.

Optimist1 · 12/01/2016 22:45

Surely the humour in the Judi Dench sketch was she's a "national treasure" - as PPs have said we all like her, she's natural and far from "luvvie". Portraying her as a social deviant was pure comedy in my book.

Davros · 12/01/2016 22:50

I was looking forward to this. Started watching tonight, wanted to like it but got bored

NewLife4Me · 12/01/2016 22:51

she's a legend.

Nodowntime · 12/01/2016 22:51

Optimist, yeah, of course we understand that they are trying to be outrageous and completely improbable, I get it why it's supposed to be funny, I just still don't find it funny somehow.

katemiddletonsmama · 12/01/2016 22:55

Wowzers, is that Ade Edmondson in the background doing a Rik Mayall impersonation?
