Anyone else watch this last week?

I was rolling around - explaining to my teen dd that we actually didn't eat pasta in the 70s...... trying to explain why we had a frill of extra material on the bottom of a skirt or dress.

This is written by Emma Kennedy - the author of 'The Tent, the Bucket, and Me' - possibly the funniest book ever written, so no wonder I found it hilarious.

Give it a try if you were born in the 60s / grew up in the 70s Grin

We had pasta, that spagehetti that was a meter long and didn't fit in the cupboard.

Thought it was hilarious.

Just the two of us then, jay55 Grin

I've recorded it! Is it good then? Suitable for kids too?

Well happynow - my dd is 16 so watches pretty much anything I watch Wink
I guess it depends on how old your dc are - it is on at 9.30, so I guess that makes it after the watershed.

I was thinking about long spaghetti earlier. It came in a blue wrapper and we thought it was quite exotic!
I enjoyed the programme and laughed a lot.

My dh and I love it. The Only pasta we ate as kids was sphagetti and macaroni cheese. Lasagne was only found in restaurants.

The only criticism I have was in the first series was a wooden climbing frame. It looked too modern to me. In the 70s, we would have had metal climbing frames, tall slides, swings etc.

ImTakingTheEssence · 11/10/2015 19:52

Just watched it with my mam she had to ex plain alot. Having been born in 88. Couldn't get over how hairy the men were and the exotic lasagne. I like the whole poloneck under the dress though and the boots and ponchos.

I love it - the book is hilarious. I read an interview with Emma Kennedy recently and sadly Brenda has passed away. Tony enjoyed the previews apparently Smile

I don't think the series is as funny as the book, but very little is. If you haven't read it, get hold of a copy. Now.

I was literally crying with laughter when I read the book.

My dcs read it afterwards (obv not brought up in / don't remember the 70s) and they too, found it hysterical.
