In a way it was stupid having a public vote to decide because everyone voted for who they 'liked' and to make a point about 'normal' weight women. That's how Jen got so far. Having said that if she'd really wanted to she could've worked on her body a bit more (just like an athlete would before a race) and may even have won. Without having had to become super skinny.

I come from a family of skinny's. My brother is 6,5" and weighs 11 stone and eats like a horse. It is possible to be healthy and skinny. It's normal for some people.

True, Imaginary. And not very fair, either.

B/c in the industry, your body type really does need to fit a mold - yes, even plus-sized models must be proportioned a certain way AND have the height - in order to get work.

Any agency worth its salt, for example, have height requirements.

And just b/c you get a contract doesn't mean you get work.

It's like having a Make Me a Footballer contest w/people who may or may not have the talent to actually play professionally.

It's a maddening topic isn't it? People accept that models have to be a certain height but not that they have to be a certain weight. You wouldn't have got somebody in the short-list who was 5,5" would you?

expatinscotland · 17/11/2006 15:28

and it's more about the way their body is built than weight.

but at the end of the day, as i wrote, it's about making things look attractive enough to people that they'll want to buy them.

would you buy a skirt that made the models arse look the size of Texas?

and you do that by showcasing them on human clothes horses to the best of its ability.

Agreed expat. We are one in the same mind on this subject.

Agree to disagree I don't think stick thin models make the clothes attractive, nothing wrong with a Texas arse in a nice skirt .
