i'm suspicious. 'fewer and better programmes'? the only good thing about sonme of cbeebies is that it's mercifully brief... and what's all this gender stereotyping 'losing boys' stuff?
cbeebies to change

I like Cbeebies as it is but I don't like the prpgrammes repeated every 4 hours - can't they put different programmes on. If there are fewer programmes does this mean they will repeat more frequently?

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 04/11/2006 13:23

'spose it depends whether the new progs are the same length, longer, or shorter. i don't expect to get away with fewer repeats. if the progs are 'better' that usually means 'more expensive' so prob same length/shorter and same number/more repeats. and i do wonder if it's cost cutting dressed up as improving the service, which is typical bbc management speak..

The next major programme launch for CBeebies is In The Night Garden, which Mr Carrington described as "Teletubbies for the Millennium".

Tronji is a 30 x 30 series for children aged six to eight years, and has been commissioned from Ragdoll, the makers of Teletubbies. It involves two worlds that co-exist - the Tronji world, and the real world, blending live action and real children with a computer-generated environment.

It aims to entice its audience into the problem-solving and detecting activities of the Tronji world, encouraging them to help solve the comical dilemmas presented in each episode.

Also from Ragdoll is In The Night Garden, a series of 100 x 30 episodes aimed at pre-school children. It features a host of wonderfully silly characters living together within a happy and caring community.

It is filmed in real woodland, weaving together the very latest technical innovations in live-character costume technology and computer-generated animation to create a fully immersive experience for young viewers.

Both Ragdoll series will be executive produced by Anne Wood

Is Charlie and Lola going to stay - that's all I care about!!! I'm sure my DD might feel different

Mercy · 04/11/2006 21:51

Cbeebies is utter rubbish imo. Cheap tv, with a handful of good programmes

Citv and FiveLife/Milkshake are far better as they have more variety and do actually change their programme schedule more than once every 6 months. Just wish they didn't have adverts though.

TheDaVinciCod · 04/11/2006 21:53

agree re boys
all prgs too girly

TLV · 10/11/2006 14:46

As long as the tweenies and teletubbies stay....ooh and storymakers and fimbles, dd favorite programmes not mine

Flamesparrow · 10/11/2006 14:53

Keep Charlie and Lola, and storymakers - oh and doodledoo... scrap the rest (escpecilly big f*ckin cook)

puffling · 18/11/2006 22:38

They have to keep Story Makers. I never miss Blue Cow!

CountTo10LordsaLeaping · 18/11/2006 22:42

If they don't still show Brum, Something Special or Step Inside at some point I may have a revolt on my hand!!!

edam · 18/11/2006 22:48

As long as Carrington keeps Charlie and Lola, sacks Sarah flipping Jane, the Fimbles and Tweenies and cancels Me Too I'm with him. Oh, and the scary lady from that programme about listening - Razzle Dazzle?

Olihan · 18/11/2006 22:52

Considering some of the stuff they repeat on Cbeebies is about 10 years old, I think most of our LOs will have outgrown it before they finally stop showing all the old favourites.

I do wonder if they'll lose a lot of their 2-3 year old audience with the increase to 6 year olds. Isn't that what Numberjacks is aimed at and ds (2.10) is terrified by it.

The thing is I like cbeebies because its aimed at the younger ones. Not only that some of the stuff on nick jnr are just horrendous. Don't get me started on the Wiggles - I mean what the hell is that about???!!!

nearlythree · 18/11/2006 23:26

V. worried about CBeebies aiming older - my dd1 is 4 and Numberjacks terrifies her. They do need more biy stuff though - there are few positive male role models on there. And some of the programmes are terribly out-of date.
