I think my favourite bit of this episode was Darryl and Aaron hanging out. For all his kick assness ( I know it's not a word ) he seems the most vulnerable at times. I got a warm happy feeling when they were bonding in the garage.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it already but what was with Rick at the end looking like he was going to pull his gun when hairdresser and husband walked by? And then leaning up against the wall with the Walker on the other side? I couldn't figure out if he was losing it again like back at the prison or was missing a bit of violence because everything is all peaceful for the time being or something else.

I was surprised he kissed her. This is officer friendly, the man who went back for Merle of all people and now he's kissing another man's wife in the next room. I know he's changed a lot but thought he'd still have boundaries Smile

On supplies, supermarkets hold around 4 days of food. Washington has a population of c6m, so 24 million (wo)man days of food in the local area (excluding houses). That is 66,000 years for 1 person. Even taking account of the fresh stuff rotting, that is probably enough for the Alexandria group particularly as Washington was evacuated.

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 11/03/2015 21:08

Wow.

That's some impressive supermarket maths.

What about use by dates, though?

And it won't last forever. Aren't they planning on reproducing and repopulating? Or are we not thinking about that yet?

ZacharyQuack · 11/03/2015 21:15

Carol, it's knowledge like that which will keep you alive in the zombie apocalypse.

Bedsheets4knickers · 11/03/2015 21:45

I think Rick leaning against the wall was more that he enjoyed the feeling of safety . For once not having to fight.
Touching his gun was abit iffy, he's certainly not out of the woods in the mental state. X

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/03/2015 22:55

True limited plus who would want to have sex with the dirty unwashed moistness of minges ....,,,,

Excellent deduction of food supplies

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 11/03/2015 22:58

I think you get used to the unwashed minges.

Everyone in Game Of Thrones is pretty grubby and they're all at it.

Is only the clean people who weren't having sex.

Tillyboo · 11/03/2015 23:12

Has anyone thought that perhaps the 'W' is in fact an upsidedown 'M' = Morgan ?

GentlyBenevolent · 11/03/2015 23:32

I hope not. Because that would make him a complete nutter.

It must be for wolves. That's the only sensible answer. Surely?

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 11/03/2015 23:34

Duh!!

The 'W' stands for 'Walkers'...

Wink
GentlyBenevolent · 11/03/2015 23:38

Meant to say - I think they might be being weaponised- perhaps normal people, killed and marked and dumped before they turn so as to use them as advanced troops to take over somewhere (first shirewilt, next Alexandria, then we take Manhattan...)

I once read a rather good sci fi/fantasy book about people being turned into werewolves for that purpose, and Anne Rice used the idea in some of her vampire books (Akasha and Her enemies both created armies to fight their battles for them). So it's a tried and tested speculative fiction trope...

GentlyBenevolent · 11/03/2015 23:38

KingJoffrey I think not. But I guess we'll find out soon enough.

KingJoffreyFanciesDarylDixon · 11/03/2015 23:40

I was having a laugh, by the way...

Grin

Although I'd laugh harder if that did turn out to be true.

GentlyBenevolent · 11/03/2015 23:42

I'd be quite surprised since most of the other groups weve met don't even call them walkers (the alexandrians call them roamers. The Grady memorial people called them lamebrains. I can't remember what the termites, claimeers or Woodbury people called them but I'm pretty sure it wasn't walkers...)

GentlyBenevolent · 11/03/2015 23:49

Rotters, that's another name (the Grady people used that too...I think)

ConeyIslandPeach · 12/03/2015 02:01

plus who would want to have sex with the dirty unwashed moistness of minges

What a lovely way with words you have.

Has anyone thought that perhaps the 'W' is in fact an upsidedown 'M' = Morgan ?

No. I read that theory online and it seems pretty stupid. In the episode where Tyreese died, there were all those walker heads that fell out of a truck on top of the car. All those heads had "W" on them.

So Morgan is really going to kill a load of people and sit there carving a letter M into each of their heads?

It definitely stands for either Wolves or Whisperers.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2015 02:53

I try :)

So who do you think are the Wolves???

hopefulpuffin · 12/03/2015 04:04

I had some thoughts about the A. Anyone ever read The Scarlet Letter?Big red A seen on to Puritan Hester Prynne's dress. Stood for adultery. It's an 18th (?) century Great American Novel - means I had to read it in high school. Grin

Carol is really freaking me out these days. But you'd think she'd have been a bit more careful going to the armory to make sure she wasn't followed.

Did anyone else think the ending with the Bee Gees (had to google that one) was reminiscent of all the Mad Men endings with symbolic pop songs?

bigfam · 12/03/2015 04:19

I have to join, I absolutely effing love this programme! Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds Dixon sexy (he was in lady Gaga's video judas and looked remarkably similar to his character in twd, even down to the motorbike and leather, just cleaner therefore yummier, seriously watch the video) I loved what carol said to that little boy.
I also agree with the pp who suggested ricks missing the fight cause of the scene with the fence but also there was a scene with Carl (maybe last episode) where they were outside the wall and the Walkers turned up and they gave eachother the 'its walker bashing time!' look...

ConeyIslandPeach · 12/03/2015 04:47

So who do you think are the Wolves???

Another group of saviours, that loot other groups. I'm assuming.

I had some thoughts about the A. Anyone ever read The Scarlet Letter?Big red A seen on to Puritan Hester Prynne's dress. Stood for adultery

I'm pretty sure it just stands for Alexandrian.

I think the only other significances it has is that they were in rail car A in Terminus.

I also think it's just a sign that Rick is starting to accept his life as an Alexandrian. Whilst he still took the gun off Carol, he was slightly hesitant.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 12/03/2015 06:32

I don't think they'll bring The Whisperers in now. Too many plot points would be missed, it wouldn't be right.

My money's on The Wolves being a new name for the crazy people everyone's been waiting for since they saw that man stumble from the cart at Terminus.

GentlyBenevolent · 12/03/2015 06:37

Hopeful - not really -it's something Bear McCreary does a lot and he was doing it before Mad Men.

GentlyBenevolent · 12/03/2015 06:39

The wolves had something to do with the destruction of shirewilt (the camera lingered longingly over the graffiti about them).

hopefulpuffin · 12/03/2015 06:45

Thanks for that, Gently. I knew the name but a quick google told me I actually watch a bunch of shows he's done!

Now, thanks to TWD, I'm buying a bunch of Bee Gees songs because it dawned on me I really do like dancing around the kitchen to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and a bunch more disco songs.

I didn't expect that when I sat down to watch this week's episode. Grin
