I feel so sad and angry. Those poor women, their stories are so upsetting, having to travel so far at such a time... and the pro-lifer group makes me sick! Angry

Me too!

They're just so ignorant! I wouldn't actually have an abortion personally but I strongly support our rights to do so!

Those pictures they were stood there with in the middle of the day in front of passing children were just so unnecessary

peachgirl · 04/02/2015 21:35

I was cheering that lady with the strawberry blonde hair, she had their measure!

"People just have casual sex and think now it's time to get an abortion" good grief Angry

Don't get me started on the "pro-life" men objecting

Me.
I'm shocked by the pro lifers venom towards having a choice.

QueenB14 · 04/02/2015 21:40

Tell me about it, that middle aged man with the poster really aggravated me! What would he know about anything? It's such a personal choice to make

Its hard enough raising a child when you want one, I can't imagine doing it when I didn't want to

peachgirl · 04/02/2015 21:42

As am I. I'm crying along with the doctor who feels she has let her patients down (I really am in actual tears); she tells her side of it very eloquently. The comparison between the Taliban and Irish govt was quite shocking but made sense when she explained it.

Sarah's story is heart breakingSad

msrisotto · 04/02/2015 21:45

What channel is/was it?

PureMorning · 04/02/2015 21:46

Bbc 3

peachgirl · 04/02/2015 21:47

Absolutely, Sarah got me weeping as well.

I knew they'd bring up Savita, but I think it was done tastefully. Poor woman RIP.

How can those pro-lifers defend denying an abortion in cases of rape. I don't think I'll sleep well tonight, I'm too full of rage.

PureMorning BBC at the moment, so it'll be on iplayer after 10 or so.

I shouldn't have watched it, so angry for these poor women!

meglet · 04/02/2015 22:01

it was very good.

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 04/02/2015 22:05

It was surprisingly good, I knew it was being filmed but wasn't sure what way it would turn out. Am pleased!

Bellejessleo · 04/02/2015 22:21

Those pro lifers really annoyed me..how can 16 year old children possibly feel qualified to judge and comment on a woman's choice to have a baby. I wonder if they knew all that being pregnant and having a baby and then bringing up that baby..forever! actually involved!! I can't imagine how awful I would feel if I was forced to go ahead with a pregnancy i didn't want or couldn't cope with. The comparison with the Taliban was very accurate!

peachgirl · 04/02/2015 22:22

It really was good. Anyone reading this thread who didn't see it, try to catch it on iplayer. It was an excellent production and very thoughtfully done as well as thought-provoking (and, in my case, rage-inducing, but in the best possible way).

Belle it was those self righteous ignorant people that got me too, I hate that the laws are the way they are and strip women of their rights but they're just spouting these opinions and upsetting people when they don't know or understand what leads people to choose terminations.

One girl said "I try to understand and but I've never been in that situation" or something along those lines...exactly!

EXACTLY!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/02/2015 22:30

Watched it here too. In Ireland we are truly second class citizens as women. As much as the press and whatnot harp on about how strong Irish women are, how we are the core of the family, Irish Mammies and how they are respected and to be bowed down to - it all falls to shit when we fall pregnant as we are walking incubators in the eyes of the law.

Oh the rage I feel...

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 05/02/2015 13:18

I've just seen this on catch-up. Had a real lump in my throat when the pro-choice campaigner stood in front of all those women and offered an address for importing pills. Just amazing, so brave of her.

Enormouse · 05/02/2015 13:23

I've downloaded it to watch at a later date. Having been through it and had to travel to England recently for an abortion I thought I might actually kick the tv in at the pro life stuff.

Is the material sensitively handled?

TheBabyFacedAssassin · 05/02/2015 18:14

Mouse it is done very respectfully. And definitely leans to the pro choice view. It is worth a watch though you may find it upsetting having gone through the process so recently. I found parts of it quite difficult to watch too, there is a section on fatal foetal abnormality.

msrisotto · 05/02/2015 18:22

Argh those 16 year old pro lifers are utterly clueless. Their stupidity is dangerous, it makes me so very angry.

Enormouse · 05/02/2015 18:45

Thanks assassin. How are you? I was thinking of you when I saw the bollocks Alasdair McDonnell came out with recently.

I'll try and watch it tonight. Possibly with a large scotch.
