You can have conflict without controversy.
Its a shame that has got lost in the quest for drama.
I don't think Ken saw anything wrong in what he said; note he said the second racist comment to Cheggers when no one else was around and Cheggers didn't (and probably wouldn't) raise an eyebrow to it.
Ken had made out a lot of his comments were about psychological warfare and getting a rise out of other people. That doesn't work when it comes to Cheggers. I strongly suspect that Cheggers and Ken's paths have crossed a considerable amount in the past, so they know each other well enough that Ken would know that Cheggers wouldn't flinch at his language nor pick him up on it.
Again if its a game plan to be offensive and be kept in by the public for it, it doesn't work as because that comment didn't create a situation/offence. Therefore its reasonable to assume he would reason it wouldn't be shown in a highlights programme.
So it does leave you with no other alternative but to think that Ken either thinks he can make huge money outside the house from being un-pc (which would have to mean interviews really as he hasn't got another 'talent' as such like a comedian) or he really does think what he says is fine. He won't be touched with a barge pole by other drama productions or advertisers now. He might just get away with panto if he plays the villain.
The saddest thing though, is his son has publically apologised for his father's behaviour. His son has done nothing wrong, so its awful that he feels so embarrassed that he felt the need to do that.
Ken might have a massive chip on his shoulder about the world being so PC and might be trying to make a point and 'martyr' himself over it. I'm quite happy for him to take a long walk off a short cliff in the process of doing that.
