We got a 42 inch one at Christmas and I keep wondering if it's too big...

RosesandRugby · 05/01/2015 20:41

Mines 32 inches which is more than adequate as far as I'm concerned. However if you ask my DH its nowhere near big enough Hmm

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/01/2015 20:44

37" and it's too big for the room.

GloriousGloria · 05/01/2015 20:53

32" which is perfectly adequate for my little room (terraced cottage)

However, when I upgrade I do think I will get a 42" only because DS will be very happy then.

MuttonCadet · 05/01/2015 20:54

55, and it's totally chavvy, I'm getting a wall tapestry made to cover it up. Blush

Hulababy · 05/01/2015 20:56

42 inch iirr
We have a reasonably large room though so it def doesn't look too big.
DH is looking at new TVs and would like a 4k curved one, smallest they do is 48 inch though - but again, due to the decreased frame size, it will fit fine.

However, MN doesn't like large TVs so you will mostly get people saying they only have a tiny TV if other threads are anything to go by. FWIW a smaller TV would look lost in our room - and I'd ever be able to read anything on the screen!

crazykat · 05/01/2015 21:18

We've got a 42" in the living room which looks fine, it's a big room though (16' x 12') so depending on how the furniture is arranged a 50" or 55" inch wouldn't look too over the top. We've just got a 32" for our room to replace our old 26" inch so I don't need to wear my glasses to see the picture.

TheFirstOfHerName · 05/01/2015 21:22

Just upgraded from 32 to 40. Haven't quite got used to it yet. The children have inherited the 32 inch one for the playroom and they are over the moon.

shinysparklythings · 05/01/2015 21:25

Oh no! We've just ordered a 50 inch one, I'm slightly concerned it will be too big now Hmm

We currently have an old 32 inch which is about a new 37inxh and it looks too small for our new lounge.

Mintyy · 05/01/2015 21:26

32". Too big for my liking by dh and the dc seem fond of it.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 05/01/2015 21:29

We upgraded from a 32" to a 42" on Saturday and I still keep laughing at it. It's not too big for the room but it's pushing it imo. It is nice to play Lego Hobbit on though as I can stay on the sofa and still see all the fiddly little bits (had to sit on the floor with the old TV) Shamefully we've managed to buy a 3D one although that wasn't what we originally set out for - just needed something with lots of HDMI ports and this was the best in terms of quality and value. It is quite cool to watch 3D films at home though Blush

screamingskull · 05/01/2015 21:32

We have a 50 inch and love it, living room isn't that big either. Did worry when we got this size that it would be huge but it's actually not when you get used to it.

Not sure i would go much bigger just because of the way the room is laid out.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/01/2015 21:42

We've had our 37 inch one for at least 5 years and I'm still not totally used to it, not too bad for watching, but when it's off it just sits there looking enormous and black. Our room is only about 12' square which doesn't help.

Moln · 05/01/2015 21:47

Actually no idea. When we bought it Dh wanted a bigger one but I say no as I thought the one we got was quite big. I measure corner to corner dont I?

Norfolkandchance1234 · 09/01/2015 02:01

My 42" looked too big at first but we love it esp the HD channels. It looks amazing. I was quite happy with my 37" inch one tbh but nothing beats HD TV.

GrandTheftQuarto · 09/01/2015 02:07

50". GTA looks amazing on it.

I'm so Mumsnet.

AcrossthePond55 · 09/01/2015 02:26

Ours is 58" in the living room & 36" in our bedroom.

But we have old eyes and need a big screen so we can see our shows. Yep. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Philoslothy · 09/01/2015 02:45

Main living area is 50", we have a cinema room and that one is about 96" I think. We the have lots of other TVs scattered over the house that are more normal sizes.

I am the antidote to all the MNers with tiny televisions.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/01/2015 10:23

46" in the family room- it seemed huge when we got it, but we;ve grown into it. Bought to replace the 32" (now in in DS room ,he uses as a PC screen) He has an old, massive arsed widescreen 32" as well (as a TV) which we'll have to keep until it goes 'puff' so we can chop it up remove it without risking damage. You can't give these buggers away now Hmm

DD has a smaller wall mounted TV (about 26" I think)

DeeCayed · 11/01/2015 00:01

65" tv and 110" projector screen. No they aren't too big for the room and no I don't live in a mansion.

Yes it's the focal point of the room but it's meant to be, df is disabled and watches a lot of tv he is also an avid AV fan.

We love them Smile

fussychica · 12/01/2015 09:43

Our TV is 47" - I thought it might be too big but it's not. I love it.

emmelinelucas · 13/01/2015 02:12

Mine is not much bigger than the portable that I had before. I have no idea the size in inches.
It fits nicely on the unit, but DH says he wants a bigger one. It doesn't matter to me.

emmelinelucas · 13/01/2015 02:16

Philoslothy - you have a cinema room ? wow.
If I win the lottery...If I win the lottery...
I would love my own cinema Smile

Oodbrain · 13/01/2015 20:28

We have 28 in the living room and a screen in the cinema Wink

QueenFuri · 13/01/2015 20:43

47in a bit big OH choose it, still shows the same crap as any other one a 32in one would do the job.

grumpyoldgitagain · 13/01/2015 20:48

Not big enough

32" I think but will get something a little bigger when the next one goes bang and just re allocate between rooms
