Yes, I enjoyed it. Very well cast, nice storyline but sad undertones.

I've watched the documentary but not the musical yet, I have it recorded.

I love Victoria Wood so I'm really looking forward to watching it when DH is no longer making the death-moans of his bad cold.

After reading the fabulous reviews on digital spy I watched it (wasn't going to ) OMG totally brilliant. Sublime. A must see

I really enjoyed it, although I have to say, having seen the stage version in Manchester last year, it works slightly better in a theatrical setting than it did on screen.

Michael Ball & Imelda Staunton were ace.

A couple of times in the documentary.
The camera was there for a while.
She was wearing a jade checked shirt and it was mainly on her

Then she was front row in the black and white 1929 bit, so saw a few shots then.

I'm a very proud mum, but also pleased they used the ackstage footing and the shots in the documentary as the choir worked and rehearsed on set for so long considering their little bit.

Can imagine it might work better on stage. A bit too Dennis Potter meets Alan Bennett for my taste.

I enjoyed it but felt there was an inbalance. We needed to see more of Enid as a little girl, some detail about her home-life would have been interesting,and perhaps miss out that not particularly believable bit about the repulsive boss!

The shot of Jimmie as a child in the choir had several child actors and actresses that I believe were the grown ups you see later, including enid.
In the film they have a circle of light round them, but it didn't really come across, I know.
There was a girl cast as Enid the child and one of the choir members was her best friend, but none of this was made obvious, I know.

I couldn't really tell you much about the filming though as we just had to drop, run and hang around in the freezing cold in January in Huddersfield.

Agree with Clawdy, I wanted to know more about Enid as a child. But it was still the best thing on this Christmas. Love Victoria Wood, she's such a brilliant writer.

it was lovely, michael ball was lovely but there was a little too much singing.

And for the first time ever I liked, no loved Michael Ball!

It would have been nice to hear "Nymphs and Shepherds" sung all the way through.We only heard bits of it,and it was after all the inspiration for the whole thing.

I missed the afternoon programme - my DM was telling me that her uncle was in the original choir (he now lives in Australia so can't attend reunions). He recalls something about a tenor's false teeth falling out - was hoping to see if anyone else mentioned that! I'll have to catch it on Iplayer.
