oh and dp's boss moves in the same circles as Nigella and says she is a cold fish.

(or maybe she just didn't bat her eyelashes at him )

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 12/10/2006 10:50

i thought she seemed so....ungenuine( god that's terriel sorry) but really uninterested i it all. she's also a bit stepfordy-kind of vacant and like she's on tranquilisers!
the other thing that stunned me was the wealth.if you go back a couple of generations in my family everyone was a farmer or a labourer or a docker or somesuch. you had to go back a long way to find anything that wasn't super wealthy.

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 12/10/2006 10:51

terrible even

LieselVonTrappDoor · 12/10/2006 10:51

I dont think shes beautiful - expat on the other hand - one sexy ladyeeeee.

saltire · 12/10/2006 10:56

kathy, what was the sister called? My DH insited that the presenter said her name was Horatio?

Was it her sister though or was it Dominic's wife, Rosa Monckton?

lucycat · 12/10/2006 10:58

Thomasina wasn't it?

The sis was Horatia (we had the subtitles on and she def didn't look like Rosa Monckton.) She was actually the one that knew lots of stuff about the family. She could hardly get a word in edgeways but when she did it turned out to be right.

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 12/10/2006 11:00

didn't thomasina die of cancer?

KathyMCMLXXII · 12/10/2006 11:00

There was a reference to how Tomasina looked - isn't she the one that died?

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 12/10/2006 11:01

why do you suppose they gave the girls boys names with 'a' on the end? nigella? thomasina? horatia?

sorrell · 12/10/2006 11:02

I saw Nigella with John Diamond when her second child was small. She was shopping and looked absolutely terrible. Washed out, huge and scruffy. I found it very cheering. She is extremely photogenic I think. Her chat show was appalling because she seemed totally uninterested in her guests.

lucycat · 12/10/2006 11:02

Could the family not decide on any 'girls' names?

{grin]

KathyMCMLXXII · 12/10/2006 11:02

Maybe after men in the family - her dad is Nigel, after all.

Pruhoohooohoooooni · 12/10/2006 11:04

I saw Nigel questioned once about the name thing and he said "It happens to be a very pretty blue flower" (It's love-in-a-mist, gardening fiends.)
I thought he was a tad defensive about it tbh, unsurprisingly. Also, maybe a bit dishonest?

KathyMCMLXXII · 12/10/2006 11:05

Oh, so agree, Sorrell - I watched a few episodes of the chat show cos I was bf at the time and it was absolutely appalling.
She made the giveaway element (where some of the audience got a free handbag or something) look totally patronising as well.
(Agree with Expat about the food stuff, though.)

lucycat · 12/10/2006 11:07

I like a bit more enthusiasm on 'who do you...' she was very pleased to be going on a freeby jaunt to Germany and Amsterdam and seemed disappointed that she couldn't go to Spain as well.

I did like Colin Jackson's programme, he was sooo interested in it all - taking notes and everything.

LiliLaTigresse · 12/10/2006 11:13

I thought it was a lovely programme (dh just dribbled looking at her - she is stunning I think)
But don't you all envy her fabulous office with all those bookshelves!!!!!!! I want it!!!!!!!!!!!

KathyMCMLXXII · 12/10/2006 11:14

Yes, Colin Jackson was lovely.
I liked David Dickinson too - always found him deeply irritating in the past but he came across on this as really warm and sympathetic - amazingly forgiving and understanding about the mother who gave him up and refused ever to meet him.
(Best thing about this prog is JUDGING the celebs!)

zippitippitoes · 12/10/2006 11:16

I thought she came across as very dull and spark free as well as very wrinkle and shadow free..the only time i thought she showed any feeling was her look or shock horror which i think was pronbably genuine when her son said perhaps they were robbers at the start of the programme

TutterIckOrTreat · 12/10/2006 11:20

yes but nobody's answered my question about cardies being stuck fast to twinset top

OP posts:
lucykate · 12/10/2006 11:21

i think her cardi's are held in place by static from a nylon bra

TutterIckOrTreat · 12/10/2006 11:22

here for example - bet the cardi sides didn't budge an inch

OP posts:
KathyMCMLXXII · 12/10/2006 11:26

Can we get her for live webchat so we can ask her?
Agree it is an enormously important question.

Bozza · 12/10/2006 11:27

Agree kathy about David Dickinson - that was fascinating and some bits were quite poignant. Although I did recoil in horror at the scene in his bedroom where he was packing for the Turkey trip - bad taste overload going into that suitcase.
