I reckon that it was someone who wanted DinoRic dead so that Joe would go dahn for murder. So Lindsay? Or Kim, for Lindsay? Or kim wants Joe out of the way because of whatever he has in her, which he spoke to her about (off screen), I guess so that he could acertain that her alibi for Freddie was false?

It would be ace if Mercedes is not really dead, but has been somehow turned into a killing machine however, either by her Silas kidnapping (maybe hypnotised and activated years later?), or by Freddie.

Hmm, I'm wondering why they would go on to kill all the others then? I'm wondering if there is some kind of righteous reasoning. For example, the serial killer has gone after Rick because he is a shit dad... But then, if they wanted to kill everyone in hollyoaks who wasn't 'pure' or who was a shit parent we would only have the children left and they are always in their bedrooms playing!
