Absolutely ridiculous.

watching now - it's heartbreaking how the 15yr old's entire self-worth and esteem is wrapped up in shopping bags...

Someone needs to teach these children how to love themselves for who they are, not what they "want".

I can't imagine spending £200 on a shopping trip for things that would probably end up not worn, looking at what she threw out beforehand!

And don't even get me started on the dog-siblings and child who gets to spend £300 in Toys R Us on the way home from school because he's "not been here for ages" (2 weeks, the mum clarified)!!

I'm equally horrified, saddened and worried for their mental health... awful.

I will probably phrase this clumsily but -
I didn't see the program but saw an article with a picture of an obviously very overweight young girl.

I would think if her mother had such a desire to do the best for her the first thing would be safeguarding and nurturing her health. Physical and mental.
But it's not at all about that, it feels from my scant information more about her mother's needs than actually just being an ineffectual parent - I'll be interested to see what other comments say.
It's very obviously ridiculously poor parenting all compounded by offering up the kids for the tv, probably for the money and may 5 minutes.
But if your parents don't or won't advocate for you then it's hard luck to fall into the clutches of a channel 5 production.

I'm not sure I could stand to watch it, I already feel fairly scathing of the behaviour but also utterly sorry for them.

I'd read about the family with the pony and heard something about the Mother with the 3 jobs, but nothing prepared me.

I know these programmes are cut and edited to suit but OMG Shock

The Mum of the little boy was pushing him towards the designer clothes and the toys because she had been very spoiled as a child so that was how she percieved she should treat her son (and her father had gone from rich-to-nil so for her it was a "Spend it while you can" )

The mum Kelly, sitting laughing "Oh we haven't got food but the horse gets the best" Hmm

And the mum of the 15yo, I didn't know whether to pat her head soothingly or shake her (probably the latter)

All I can say to all the parents , is when your DC leave home a run up a fortune in credit card, store card, PayDay loans because they don't know the meaning of "No, Wait"......well you'll all be there to mop up after them, won't you?

Because it's you're fault that your children will be Consumer Brats. They'll learn by example.
You'll be laughing then eh?
