Well, ok it if naff. But aren't all weddings?

Devora · 31/03/2014 22:56

It's very old-style Channel 4.

Lighthousekeeping · 31/03/2014 22:57

DD (3) got out of bed and watched the last 15 minutes, she was singing along. Just put her to bed and she said "I liked those husbands marrying"

Blondieminx · 31/03/2014 23:09

Awh I loved it! Interview from the Indy with one of the grooms here

Devora · 31/03/2014 23:10

Smile. A friend's little girl once told me she thought girls should be able to marry each other, but not boys. When I asked why, she said: "No dress. What's the point?" Grin

TessTackle · 31/03/2014 23:16

Devora Grin that's incredible. My sisters getting married in October and DD wants to wear a matching suit to the groom but must have a flower garland in her hair Hmm

Devora · 31/03/2014 23:18

She sounds fab, Tess. To my sorrow, my 4 yo is hugely conventional and wouldn't do anything so cute.

TessTackle · 31/03/2014 23:21

It's only cute when we're not having run ins about appropriate outside clothes. (Think only wanting to wear knickers and snow boots when it's arctic outside) but yes, she is fab, thank you!

Well as a bi sexual lady, who's in a relationship with a woman and who was very excited about the new laws regarding same sex marriage, I was surprised how much I disliked this.

I have to say, me and my gf only really decided to watch because Stephen Fry (who we love!) was narrating it and thought it would be nice to see a couple, same sex or otherwise, get married. We weren't really excited about the idea of it being a musical, but were open minded.

It started off bizarre to say the least, but I thought just go with it.....lighten up etc. Unfortunately though, it all went downhill from there, for us anyway.

Lighthousekeeping · 01/04/2014 11:13

I'm afraid Stephen Fry couldn't rescue it. He may have made it worse. It was so blatant in that it was a load of old cronies that were back slapping each other. Nothing to do with gay marriage I mean the whole production of the show. As for the after shoe I would not want to have been there. I can't cope with all the fussiness and mwaw mwaw that goes on at those kinds of dos. It absolutely could be because I'm not into luvvies.

I thought it was lovely. Everyone was so happy!

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 01/04/2014 22:38

ha ha I cringed but kept watching

Tryintohelp · 02/04/2014 12:01

Well I loved it. I am pro-equality and pro-musical so that probably helped.

I've been to other weddings amongst professional music people and heard of others, and it's common to have a lot of music, massive choirs, multiple solos and even record it properly and possibly be a bit OTT, gay or straight. If you studied accountancy and worked in accountancy, you'd have tons of accountants at your wedding wouldn't you (and I know from experience it'd be a lot less fun)?

This was the most joyous wedding I've ever 'been to'. Some of the original songs were very catchy too. I had tears in my eyes through most of it and if they rerecorded the songs by the less-gifted amateurs then I'd buy the CD and sing along in the car.

Lighthousekeeping · 02/04/2014 13:56

I've got no doubt the cd will be out at some point.

It was shite. The mums duet 'changing expectations' was quite touching though. Especially as I'm a mum to a small boy.
