I have never seen anything so disgusting in all my life.

Poor Trinny and Susannah

Just seeing it like that made me feel sick but also a hypocrite as have eaten meat all these years.

he does apparantly, though 4 kids is pretty impressive if so!

mummydear · 10/08/2006 14:20

Sex on a Sunday morning whilst Nanny looking after the other children....Quantity not quality !!!

katierocket · 10/08/2006 14:36

Carmenere - agree totally
Enid - nobody said we had to see inside a slaughter house just that if you're going to eat meat you should accept that it's not exactly a pleasant process for the animal.

For me the BIG issue is how they are treated and slaughtered - how the hell anyone can eat no free range chicken i.e. battery shite is beyond me. And before anyone says that they can't afford to buy free range I'd say, fine, don't eat it at all, that's what I did.

MrsBadger · 10/08/2006 14:48

and on the other topic, he's talked about his low sperm count before - apparently lots of chefs have trouble because they spend so long in front of hot stoves in hot kitchens.

The veal bit made me want to go out and buy British veal, because I hate the thought of exporting veal calves so think we should eat them all here and send none abroad - wwill be stopping at Waitrose on the way home tonight .

I couldn't agree more, katie!

oliveoil · 10/08/2006 15:10

can I just say again how fab JSP is, I would love to meet her.

sweetkitty · 10/08/2006 15:19

Agree with katie too, DP watched it last night and was utterly shocked he has often said he likes to be ignorant of where his bacon sarnie comes from and if there was an alternative that tasted as good he would have that instead.

I think everyone should know where the meat on their plate comes from, too much cheap chicken from places like Thailand is making it's way into UK food and if UK practices are bad imagine what it's like abroad where they have stricter controls.

I have been vegetarian for many years after being a too many slaughterhouses. I don't disagree with eating meat but think the way the animals are treated up to and including their slaughter leaves a lot to be desired in this country.

babyonboard · 10/08/2006 15:22

It's bullshit that free range is prohibitivley more expensive, in sainsburys you can get a free range corn fed chicken for around £3.50 and they have more meat on them and taste worlds apart from the bog standard, which are £2.99, who can't afford that extra 51p!?
Plus meat / eggs/ cheese at our farmers maket is as cheap, if not cheaper, and again worlds apart in taste

babyonboard · 10/08/2006 15:24

lol after watching last weeks show, DP ordered calamari rather than cod at the chip shop...hope many other people paid attention to that!

Mirage · 10/08/2006 22:24

Agree with Cazboldy.I grew up on a farm & have never had a problem with eating meat & have eaten 'freezer beef' with no qualms.I know that the animals concerned had good lives & if it wasn't for people eating meat, they wouldn't have had lives at all.

We never had anything to do with veal though.
