I'd love to know what support they got whilst on this course-the program shows very little, but hopefully they did get some! Also, what is the shock news from the trailer of next week!?

Things have changed, and it's utterly ridiculous that a child like him didn't have support. I teach in a fairly small secondary and I have 3 students in one yr8 class who are diagnosed with ADHD and have problems accessing the curriculum. There is simply no money for support.

must be tricky evil. things definitely changeSmile

Sadly there comes a point in life where the young people have to take some responsibity for themselves. Caleb was content to blame everyone but himself and wouldn't meet the school or the teacher half way. He wasn't able to be taught in a group and the other 25 kids in the class suffered as a result. What struck me about the programme was how much effort the school made and how little the students did in some cases. Not a good life lesson.

tyaca · 09/02/2014 22:50

I don't think the presence of the tv crew did Caleb any favours tbh. Every time he played up, there they were interviewing him and giving lots of attention. He's a very likeable smart boy - I have no doubt he can be a real handfull but he doesn't strike me as one of those kids properly on the fringes. There's a whole load of kids out there without such grounded and loving mums/ homes.

Claudenia is the only likeable one, isn't she? Oh, and Chloe. How come they never show Oliver's lessons? Do you reckon BTEC business studies might not be compelling tv Grin

Retropear · 10/02/2014 13:02

Yes no sympathy re Caleb what so ever.If I was a parent of one of the other kids I would be complaining big time.

He had his chance and enough of tax payers money spent on him.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/02/2014 21:34

Actually, just because his mum was articulate and calm it doesn't mean she was parenting him effectively imo. I'd be blowed if a child of mine who'd been in such a hideous fight and kicked out of school again would be sitting there playing on his x box!

Retropear · 10/02/2014 21:40

Exactly Dame.

Also my dc are 10 and 9 and know that they're going to have to work their butts off to get anything in life and that houses/jobs don't drop out of the sky.

Spoilt little boy.

He had his chance and enough of tax payers money spent on him Grin how very Daily Mail-esque!

rollonthesummer · 11/02/2014 16:36

I'd like to know from Teach Direct folk what support you have in place? That poor girl, Meryl, appeared to have none. What do you do in the 6 weeks before you start? I can't help but think that it is nowhere near enough training :(

It's not easy to get kicked out of school, his behaviour must've been appalling. He was allowed back and messed up again, just how many chances is he meant to have at the expense of the other kids in his class?

Can't wait until Thursday!Grin
