Why is voting open before the show dance?

I loved Abbey and Sophie, Susannah was good, much better than the first time she did that dance. But I thought Natalie was a bit flat, I normally love a Cha Cha Cha, but that was a bit blah!!

they used to do 4 dances in the final, I think it was the judges fave, then show dance then one couple got voted out then their fave and something new. Also I'm sure a few years ago by the time they annouced the winner there was only two couples left so maybe the finals used to only be three couples or there was two eliminations during the show can't remember....

Any idea how long till the first voting opens got to run out and do some errands but I know voting really counts in the final so will do it from my phone if I'm still out...

Really want Abbey to win - her first dance was just sublime. I love the emotion between them.

I do wonder why they opened voting before the showdance? I remember last year, Dani Harmer's showdance was pretty awful and she didn't make the final three.
