I only do watch because dh is still hanging on in there with it. I've def watched it for too long though. I mean really! Chrissie must have seduced the entire hospital three times over by now. She never seems to be more than three feet away from at least two current conquests. What is it with Chrissie and men falling at her feet?Confused And then there's the roof!! Is there a queue to jump off the roof? Most hosiptals or commercial buildings, it would be very difficult to get to the roof. Not on Holby. And people leaving. Off they go in a taxi or a bus. Loads and loads of them. No-one works out their notice. No-one seems even slightly perturbed about the implications financially of just literally walking out of a perfectly good job to go 'travelling'. I think they must really be going to the roof because they suddenly realise how crap it all is. Gah the whole thing is so ridiculous. And everyone collapses in the corridor or the toilets. Please bring back Connie. I liked Connie. I liked Hansson before he went all weird and started keeping a bird in his desk. It's just terrible nowadays. Jac's the only one I like and they've set her up with an unbelievable storyline. No way would she and that nurse chap have got together.

Ooh yes, Eddie was "escorting" someone and told one of the nurses that a drip was on too slow/too fast.
Then it comes out that she's a nurse et voila she lands a job.
No interview
No CRB
Nothing.
Just like that!

And Trisha (Chrissies Mum) who was a Medical Secretary but also happened to be a trained nurse.....gets a job on the wards.

Not Real Not Real Not Real Grin

LineRunner · 26/11/2013 21:29

And the Williams dad who actually was a frontline nurse suddenly became the Chief Executive of the hospital after one 20 minute interview.

HarrietJonesPM · 27/11/2013 08:05

Wonder what their inspection report says...

diddl · 27/11/2013 09:17

FrauEnglisch-was it Dan something who had a thing for his SIL?

VeryTattyMum · 27/11/2013 09:30

This thread has made me laugh out loud! My guilty pleasure too.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 27/11/2013 10:26

diddl Dan Crawford! Is that right? He had some brilliant one-liners.

They really do have a staff shortage now, don't they. Where are all the registrars at the moment? It was much better with Joseph/Sam/Diane/Jaq/Rick's Ethiopian wife, etc. F1s bumbling around, then having to carry out a ridiculously difficult procedure in an emergency which gives them a confidence boost and turns them into competent drs, then getting killed off (if female) is getting very boring.

I'm also glad to see the back of Malik, but Confused about him being "a brilliant teacher". I thought he had been pigeonholed as over-confident and impulsive with anger management issues - which of those qualities makes a good teacher? Hmm

DioneTheDiabolist · 27/11/2013 10:41

Another Holby viewer here.Blush. I watched it on and off but after they performed keyhole surgery on Elliot's dog, in the basement, I was hooked.Grin

diddl · 27/11/2013 10:54

Dan Crawford doesn't sound quite right, but something like that.

I remember Maddie in it, so I must have watched again after Anton Meyer & Alex Adams!

Off to google!

diddl · 27/11/2013 10:59

Dan Clifford, played by Peter Wingfield.

Ownteethandhair · 27/11/2013 17:55

Why does that Malick character have such a swaggering walk? Looks like he should be out patrolling the 'hood not working in a hospital. Hate new CO - seen him before somewhere. Another soap that seems to have run out of steam/plots.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 27/11/2013 18:01

Of course, Clifford!!! I'll sleep better tonight now Grin

it's great how virtually every dr has been involved in something highly unethical, if not actually an imprisonable offence. Ric helped transplant a pig organ into a Jewish patient, didn't he? And Mo recently removing an organ from a patient whose mother had just withdrawn consent didn't result in anything more than a few scowls from the Scottish bloke, did it?

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 27/11/2013 18:10

Ownteeth I think that was indepth characterisation Grin. They seemed to be trying to tick so many boxes with Malik - gay, black, talented, disadvantaged boy come good - that they forgot to give him a multi-facetted personality.

LineRunner · 27/11/2013 20:17

Well I've just watched it on i-player and it's really rather genius in its awfulness. I give you, the hilarious strimmer /stripper joke.

And, does everyone who goes to a teaching post in Sweden get to take their own relative as their assistant?

I didn't get the joke and I don't like the new nurse, she's making the bloke nurse a pita.

Loopytiles · 27/11/2013 21:29

Grin makingchanges "Holby is my guilty pleasure although worried that the staff turnover at the moment is watering it down"

Only on MN do we worry about high turnover in the fictional NHS!

LineRunner · 27/11/2013 22:06

I was worried about Guy leaving Serena's confidential files out in a possibly insecure corridor and breaching the Data Protection Act.

I always wonder what St James is like. I imagine it as incredibly well staffed/efficient etc

Inthechelseahotel · 30/11/2013 00:45

I can't stand the new nurse either Harriet she is really irritating! god I need to get a life

HalleLouja · 02/12/2013 18:35

Don't like the new CEO mainly as he was the irritating one in Corrie married to Cindy from Eastenders. Can we start a campaign to bring back Henrik?

HalleLouja · 02/12/2013 18:36

Not sure I care much about the new junior doctor even. Apparently next year we are going to get more Ric action. He is lovely.

Gemd81 · 02/12/2013 18:40

I love Holby and still do the new CEO will be another fiery character from the hint in last wks episode and yeah Jac Naylor is brill!
My dh hates it but i dont care - i also have to watch casualty too now thats a classic and dh also moans hahaha cant beat a bit of totally ridiculous hospital drama!Wink

HalleLouja · 02/12/2013 18:42

Connie is coming to Casualty so might start watching that again.

Elliptic5 · 03/12/2013 08:50

Just found this thread, I love Holby too - I moved over from Casualty several years ago when I got fed up with the predictable beginnings. Now I have a machine that does series record I actually manage to watch every episode as here in Scotland they continually change the times for screening Holby.
Love Jac, hate the new nurse that Jonnys gone all giggly with. Thought it was about time for some character changes but a lot seem to have gone at once. Would love to see Connie back - what is she going to do on Casualty? (might defect back to there).
After the trailer with Guy arriving OH spent 24 hours arguing it was definitely not Robbie from Taggart, had to prove it by showing it to him on the Internet, I do like to be right Xmas Grin.

MrsSJG · 03/12/2013 20:59

I really wish Jonny would go back to Jac, I really dislike the other nurseHmm
