haven't seen a thread about this, may have missspelled,

will probably divide opinion,
I would like to kick Variel &Vanessa square in the taco , & give Debbie a good shake, in the nicest way.

I fear a lot of people were laughing at Holly, although she seems a lovely, harmless girl.

what did everyone else think?

I LOVED Debbie. My heart was breaking for her. She seemed like such a fantastic person, really knew what life was about but fun, funny, loving, but with her heart breaking inside.

Holly seemed a bit.... different? Like no self awareness at all? She went a little hyacinth bucket at one point talking about how her dance moved were sexshooaall... However, best of luck to her, she seemed very lovely. Jamaican men portrayed as huge players tho, if I were relying on that programme I wouldn't touch one with somebody else's....

I watched this last night. Debbie I loved, her baby father and the little cow his new babymother I wanted to slap. Especially the bit where she said she didn't care that e already was with Debbie because there was only one not 5 or 6. Shame this is so common really I really wanted to dose Debbie up on self esteem Sad and she can do so much better.

Miss sapphire is so self obsessed, all this I'm the only white girl who can dance bollocks, brave though going into dances on her own but you could tell it was for a man really.

Yeah I can imagine a few jamaican men were offended a bit by the portrayal,
It's not surprising though the pandemic level of STI's in that community with the baby mama attitude , I hope Debbie got tested, although I doubt it sadly.

I do think the stereotype of jamaican men was pretty spot on tbh, that type of jamaican men anyway. It's certainly true around where I live but there are lots of Jamaicans who are not like this.

What I find really strange is how much these men when they were boys loved their mums, they normally grow up in single mum households (that is the majority not a stereotype) see how much she struggles and how his dad doesn't help and then goes on and does the same to his sons.

My dd's dad has 9 brother and sisters on his mums side and to many to count and know them all on his dads side, he hates his dad for what he did to his mum but yet has 6 kids himself and a 7th waiting on DNA test. He doesn't see anything wrong in this.

meekenough · 25/10/2013 15:13

Wow. Variel's dad had 15 kids by 3 womens its just insane, these women are lucky to just catch a baby.

I felt for Debbie, her dad dying made her very dependent on his family to be her own, even her best friend said kick him to the kerb.

The only young Jamaican man I know is our Minister at Church - when h takks about Jamsica, its all about church suppers and driving in a beat up car through the countryside to give sermons. Sounds like the people on this programme have a bit of a different lifestyle...

Norudeshitrequired · 25/10/2013 20:55

the people on the tv show 'on benefits and proud' were not representative of people who claim benefits, so why should it be assumed that the people on that show are representative of Jamaican men.
