Never really a fan but my goodness this episode to cory (aka finn) has me in tears!

Am I the only one who found it deeply uncomfortable and kind of manipulative then?!

mrsjay · 21/10/2013 15:26

I think they had to make it though even though cory had not long died they had to get back to work and they had a programme to make they couldn't ignore his death and insuinuated was still FInn at college really and I think the makers did ask the cast what they thought
I did find it uncomfortable to watch knowing the actor had died it isn't the same as watching a programme and it is just the character that had died

Bellini12 · 21/10/2013 17:46

I've taped it so will make sure I'm on my own to watch it.

Could anybody let me know when Glee is next back on? It seems to have dropped off my Sky planner.

it is back in America on the 7th of november so maybe the friday after that I was confused too I think they took a break after filming the episode

YellowCanary1 · 21/10/2013 19:20

I did find some bits uncomfortable watching, but do think they needed to deal with it. Thought it was tactful to not mention anything about how the character died, would have been insensitive whatever they did.

I watched it tonight and spent most of the episode in tears.

I don't think it was manipulative. It was very uncomfortable.

I don't think anyone was compelled to take part, particularly Lea Michele. But they couldn't not deal with it, short of taking Glee off the air. And I believe that was considered - rightly so, despite the adage that the show must go on. My feeling was the cast and the crew genuinely wanted to share a tribute to their friend and colleague.

What I don't understand is how it returns to a normal storyline when it returns in November. Having been through the suicide of a colleague this year, I suppose the sad reality is that the show does go on and you keep going.

I dont think Finn will be forgotten ,

I felt a little intrusive watching but thought they did it well and that it was a lovely tribute. It was clear that some of the cast obviously had a stronger relationship with Cory than their character had with Finn - Sam/Child's face was heartbreaking to see. I did feel that all of Santana's scenes seemed like they should have been Quinn's and that jarred in the Glee universe, though I think the actress is great and clearly her grief was very real.

My only other issue was that I think for once they should have used live tracks instead of prerecorded ones. Especially when Rachel sang and was crying throughout yet this flawless track was playing - in such a raw and real episode, this was strangely distancing and detracted from how powerfully moving it all was.

I sobbed throughout and still feel tearful thinking about it. And agree with a pp that from a selfish point of view, Glee really won't be anywhere near as good without Finn. I watched Series One in a bleary breastfeeding haze when DS was a tiny baby and would love to watch it again as it was brilliant but I think it would be too sad, knowing what was to come.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 22/10/2013 09:13

Chord not Child!

And I mean I don't think Santana would have been so distraught, whereas Quinn really would be - and I think Quinn would have deserved the jacket given their history. But when there is such a painful overlap with reality I guess some things won't fit neatly with the Glee storylines.

mrsjay · 22/10/2013 14:07

I think Santana was annoyed at herself for being so bitchy and nasty that is why she was so upset a bit like sue realy who knew she was nasty to Finn and had regret,
