interested in hearing what other irish/N.irish people thought of this? and do non-irish people find it funny?

I think it's dire if i'm honest, but wondering if i'm missing something? Confused

I thought it was quite funny although it was only on in the background while I was mumsnetting working so wasn't paying attention.

Some of the accents where a bit over the top I think and the humour was very Irish IMO. I actually said to DH I don't think a lot of people would get it. Will watch it again to see how it goes.

yes one of the female accents was awful. some of the humour was OK but, and i'm struggling to put this into words, a lot of it was badly timed and some quite out of context tbh, as if it was just so they could get a certain joke in. also, I would really love to see a comedy about irish people that wasn't about drinking and swearing. I was hopeful for this one but was really disappointed last night. I know it's just a comedy but I really expected better.

would love to know how it came across to people not so familiar with irish humour.

I watched about thirty seconds, then parcelled up my passport and sent it back. I am rescinding my nationality.

Last nights episode was much better I think? I laughed out loud a few times. Grin

Intriguing that they have advertised it before it starts as starring Ardal O'Hanlan and he actually only plays the father living in NI.

I didn't watch it last night as I expected more of the same but now you've said it was better I might try and watch it on 4od.

Didn't watch last nights- saw it described as not so much a comedy as a hate crime, which was funnier than anything I saw in the first episode.

I'm not Irish, nor do I have many connections with Irish people...

I thought it was bloody bizarre and a bit wtf.

I thought it was hilarious.
