I don't know what to think of it all.

Me.

Does police in South Africa have a CSI department?!?

Or do they at least watch CSI??? This is Grisham's (CSI:Las Vegas) nightmare...

Aworryingtrend · 19/09/2013 21:58

Yes. Am so conflicted. No idea what to think.

Tasmania · 19/09/2013 22:03

Not sure.

I am not trusting South African authorities one bit.

I just would not trust authorities that make deals with criminals - which they have done big time. Can you TRUST criminals?!?

OK... I did watch 'Law Abiding Citizen' the other day, so might be biased.

ThisIsMyRealName · 19/09/2013 22:03

I saw it. Very sad but fascinating

In my opinion (which i admit is based almost entirely on an hour long tv programme) I don't think he's guilty. Very conflictig though

That poor woman though Sad

Lighthousekeeping · 19/09/2013 22:05

I do think he's gay though. I just don't think he was involved. They are all such liars though. It's shocking.

I feel confused after the programme. He really could be implicated because of a lot of coincidences.

fedupwithdeployment · 19/09/2013 22:12

Beyond reasonable doubt??? I don't think so.

Tasmania · 19/09/2013 22:36

I never ever got the motive... even before this programme.

Rule No. 1 is normally: find the motive... what was the motive?!?

Lighthousekeeping · 19/09/2013 22:39

It never made any sense. Although she didn't sound too happy did she? Such a shame they went through with the wedding.

Onesleeptillwembley · 19/09/2013 22:46

The hypocrisy of her family makes me so sad. They keep lashing out at him but they pushed her into a marriage she didn't want. She was almost a commodity to them - her happiness was of little consequence.

Lighthousekeeping · 20/09/2013 10:22

I don't think she told her parents though.

I got the impression they knew, lighthouse, as I read somewhere that a lot of the pressure was coming from a grandmother.

Nancy66 · 20/09/2013 10:44

Very hard to call. Certainly if this was in the UK I doubt he'd be charged due to insufficient evidence.

They appear to be a very modern Asian couple and it wasn't an arranged marriage so I don't get why they felt compelled to go through with the wedding if it wasn't what either of them wanted.

Corruption just runs through the veins of the justice system in SA and it's almost impossible to get the police/courts to do their jobs fairly and efficiently.

We'll see it all again when Oscar Pistorius stands trial next year.

Lighthousekeeping · 20/09/2013 10:44

Oh, I never realised. It would've been such a hypocritical relationship can you imagine him going to other me behind her back? It wasn't right whether he did it or not. Such a shame.

One thing jumped out at me. The 'middle man' receptionist was on the phone to the robbers and said 'this person wants it done quickly, he's in a rush', according to the CCTV. Who was he talking about if not the husband?

Tasmania · 21/09/2013 16:03

Chusband

That receptionist could have also been lying. He seemed to be the mastermind of it all. Did he want cash??

People often say "So-and-so wants it done quickly" - because "so-and-so" is more powerful than me, and people may act on it more efficiently. Also, if he was planning it all and wanted to profit from it most, he wouldn't have told anyone the exact plans - like in a double blind study, where even the people working for you don't know what the real plan actually is...
