I'm lost already, who was the man with the policeman?

The English invented bows, so we won lots of the battles. They didn't get to Europe until much later. I'm pretty sure the French didn't have them until later than 13th century. I'll check!

Asheth · 30/03/2013 23:04

I'm enjoying it, although agree it's hard to work out who's who in the present! Was it filmed in the Languedoc? It's stunning, whereever it is!

Jux · 30/03/2013 23:07

Bows have been around much longer than that, of course (10,000years), but we won Agincourt in 14and something mainly due to the longbow. I suppose those were short bows, in which case the French would have had them. Oh well [bublush]

I made it all the way to the end, but im sure I must be developing some delicate sensibilities because all the burning people, alive and whatnot has left me feeling a bit ill.

rhondajean · 31/03/2013 00:00

I'm a bit lost - just watched it on plus one... Confused

Cremolafoam · 31/03/2013 00:10

I thought the book was tosh, but actually I q like this tv adaptation.
Nice to see John Lynch getting an outing.
It was the cop Yves guillaume who gave her the address onthe scrap of paper. And then got totalled by the two thugs in the car.Smile
Morgana didn't really look like she was enjoying it Shock

SaltaKatten · 31/03/2013 08:42

Jux, did you see the big pennanular brooches? Not particularly south of France.

TheAccidentalEgghibitionist · 31/03/2013 08:50

The exterior shots are in Carcassonne, Languedoc-Rousillion. It's still standing, exactly as you see it on Labyrinthe, but now with lots of tourists.
The interior market and pathway shots are not in Carcassonne, but some sort of mock up. They also show shots of the base of the Pyrenees, Albi and Toulouse.

I've been over-ruled tonight - Dh is watching Waterloo! He's paying the price though - I get a lie-in tomorrow! Will read the book

Agree with Cremola - book was crap, this condenses it nicely!

Jux · 31/03/2013 21:57

DH enjoyed the book. I read a couple of pages before deciding KM couldn't really string a sensible sentence together (I'm so tolerant [bugrin]); he can't remember anything about it, actually, so could have saved himself the pain. He's enjoying the historical bits but is confused by the modern bits. I can only enjoy it in 30 second bursts, so am MNing at the same time. I don't think I could cope, otherwise!

Bizkit · 31/03/2013 23:13

Just watched this, had no idea what was going on most of the time, but still enjoyed it. Glad I haven't tried reading the book think I would of struggled.

janesnowdon1 · 31/03/2013 23:29

That's 4 hours of my life I'll never get back! Utter drivel - but lovely scenery.

sweetiepie1979 · 31/03/2013 23:41

It was shite the book was great though

Darkesteyes · 01/04/2013 00:03

Ive never read any of Kate Mosses books but this does strike me as very similar to Barbara Erskines books of which ive read three.
Lady of Hay
Kingdom of Shadows
Hiding from the Light.
Erskines books are usually set in two different time zones too.

Jux · 01/04/2013 03:59

janesnowdon, dh said "I feel like billing Channel 4 for my time!".

soupmaker · 01/04/2013 08:53

I'm with your DH Lux. Shame on
c4 for such rubbish.

SaltaKatten · 01/04/2013 10:02

I had high hopes but it left me feeling very meh. The actress playing Alice Tanner just relied on big teary eyes and flaunting her long legs.

auforfoulkesake · 01/04/2013 10:02

what an annoying waste of my time.

MajorDivvy · 01/04/2013 10:10

Couldn't follow it, but also couldn't stop watching!

My dad and I did shout out "He killed Draco Malfoy!!" at the appropriate time! Grin

auforfoulkesake · 01/04/2013 10:48

same here,
and when john hurt asked her about the Holy Grail, I thought she might mention Monty Python

Cooroo · 01/04/2013 12:40

If you want to kill someone standing in front of you and you have a sword and a crossbow, surely you'd use the sword??

EasilyBored · 01/04/2013 20:13

I watched it today, I'm confused, did she leave the books in the cave? Did the evil french woman kill herself at the end?

clangermum · 02/04/2013 11:45

Yes, left the books with Jon Hurt I think, and chose to go off with man (forget name) therefore choosing love as JH advised (I think)
