Is anyone else looking forward to this on Wednesday? I love finding out how they're getting on. I have a real soft spot for Eve, I cried buckets when her mum died Sad. I can't wait to see them as teenagers Grin

Oops! I'm always getting these programme names muddled up!

AmandinePoulain · 25/02/2013 20:19

I love Alex and Ivor too, and worry about the little boy (?James) who had to be rehoused to hide from his violent Dad Sad

Looking forward to it too. I also have DS1 almost exactly the same age

chicaguapa · 25/02/2013 20:29

You can order the free OU booklet to go with this year's series from Here

Looking forward to a proper catch up with the families, it's been a couple of years without much information. DD1 is a year younger so it's always been interesting to see what we've got coming!

squalorvictoria · 25/02/2013 21:55

I LOVE this series, have been really disappointed that it went off the boil for so many years. My favourite was always Helena.

breatheslowly · 25/02/2013 22:16

There is a description of the children here. It would be interesting to know how representative they are of children in this country as I am surprised by how many have been ill,had their parents split up or had other problems, but I suspect that I just have an unrealistic view of life and they are quite representative.

Oodsigma · 25/02/2013 22:45

There's also more multiples than is typical too.

MarathonMama · 26/02/2013 16:35

Oh it's back, FAB!!! Where did it go???

mum47 · 26/02/2013 16:37

I can't wait, I have followed it with interest as my ds1 ws born in November 1999.

MoleRat · 26/02/2013 18:31

I loved this show, so pleased it is back!
I found the triplets fascinating, not knowing anybody with triplets in RL, and also loved James (?) and felt so bad for him and his mother when they had to be rehoused, wonder how they are getting on...

Excellent, thanks! I've got a particularly rubbish day planned tomorrow, and this will be something to look forward to. I haven't seen the last couple of years, but because I've not realised it was on rather than through choice - they will have changed so much!

quirrelquarrel · 28/02/2013 16:50

So.....what did we think?

Perso I was blubbing in the first ten minutes (in fact I knew I was going to cry when I heard the title song, it was only a matter of time) when they showed Helena in the ICU. And isn't the twins' dad lovely! The last scene was very sweet. Accompanied by recquisite lump in throat.

AmandinePoulain · 28/02/2013 17:17

I enjoyed it, they all seemed so grown up and reflective. It was great to catch up, but very poignant too.

I missed all the 'experiments' though, and they seem to have lost some families along the way - and hardly included others, like the triplets, unless theirs are on tonight? I was really hoping to find out how James and Ethan are getting on, I always worried about them Sad

I hope it's not just two episodes for the whole year! oh well....better than nothing!

breatheslowly · 28/02/2013 20:15

I wonder if some of the children are deciding now not to continue. I don't think it can be easy for teenagers to be exposed like that on TV.

LynetteScavo · 28/02/2013 22:32

AmandinePoulain, I have wondered about James for years too....I've always wondered how he would turn out. When the tested his IQ, it was above average but everything else in his life was stacked against him. (I think it was James I'm thinking about - sorry if I'm wrong). I would like to think that if you stick such a child in one end of the state education system, he would come out the other end OK. But I'm not that naive.

I was absolutely blubbing this evening watching Eve. Just so, so unfair and wrong that her mother died.

DH wasn't really watching and asked if I was sad the DC were growing up. No - I'm, just gutted that life is so unfair, but appreciating that I can go and kiss my DC goodnight. (Not that 14yo DS would appreciate it, lol!)

The thing I don't like about the program is seeing the parents age...surely that's not happening to me! Grin

SoMuchToBits · 28/02/2013 23:28

It was good to see my neighbour across the road on the show. But quite sad also in a way, as my ds is 12, a bit younger than the Child of Our Time children, but still going through a lot of changes. I can identify with the mums who are struggling to adapt to their children growing up and not needing them so much!

BlissfullyIgnorant · 28/02/2013 23:56

Jamie had me sobbing. Getting to grips (sometimes literally) with a child needing frequent injections is soul destroying and gut wrenching - been there for years. Hated his father for being so selfish.

Oodsigma · 01/03/2013 06:45

Dh & I both sobbed over Eve. He lost his mum as a teen and we are having dc4 next week so way too hormonal for this :(

She had such a good understanding of herself too. Well done to her Dad on a great kid.

Joeybird64 · 02/03/2013 19:57

I don't think he was In it this year. I was looking forward to seeing if the Mum had made a better life for herself. How can we find out about them? Wonder why they chose not to carry on

Joeybird64 · 02/03/2013 20:03

We didn't see Rubin this time round either did we?

squalorvictoria · 03/03/2013 12:54

Think Rubin and James have both dropped out.
