whos been watching it, I have been gripped the last few nights.

I'm still trying to work out what luis has done at the start.

Anthony Head's character was in the hotel the night of the murder and then he was going to help Louis, but the lawyer never turned up and Louis was locked in the kitchen 'so the children wouldn't disturb you' is what Sara said.

So it could be Anthony Head, Julian or Mr Masterson. Three suspects.

I love Poliakoff. Did anyone else watch Glorious 39 and Spies in Warsaw? I really enjoyed those. Makes such a change from the usual dross.

I said at the beginning that Anthony Head's character was a bit too smooth so could well be covering something up.

However having caught up with the last episode I now wonder whether it was Pamela as she was acting rather unhinged at being left out. Also the chess-playing scene demonstrated how close they were. She was desperate for Julian to catch his train, maybe to get him out of the way while she did the deed?

Can anyone remember where she was when the attack happened?

Pamela was in the hotel too with AH's character, she was all peculiar about Julian leaving. Yes, she could be another suspect. She is a lost soul and she only has Julian really so could have felt threatened by Jessie.

I think she knows, and she knows Julian was "supposed" to be on the train as part of his alibi, but I don't think Pamela did it.

Yes, Anthony Head's character def looking higher on the list of suspects. I was remembering that he also failed to come through for the band when their manager was deported (ep. 1 or 2), was wondering if that was going to be relevant. But a bit confused why AH would want to killJessie or frame Louis. Whereas with a Masterston - Julian combo there seems to be more of a need for power / control thing going on.

And what about the transvestive looking 'fan' the camera keeps focusing on? Slightly odd that this character hasn't been allowed to develop if they are involved, but a lot of emphasis on him if he's only going to be a rather lame red herring.

Is it the final episode next week?

I think Masterston isn't guilty. Mainly because there has been too much emphasis on him being weird.

Equally same goes for Julian really.

I think Pamela is perhaps the other suspect - her brother's train / not on the train thing could be covering up for her. She doesn't seem to have approved of inter racial relationships (both Lester and Jessie's). Their parents harbour very strong racist views which she may also have but covers up, because she has this weird relationship with her brother. And again the strange women in the bedroom. What if it was Julian with her and she went mad and jealous over that too...

I´m only just watching ep1, & tbh, after Louis saw the hotel room & the girl, I don´t understand why they all went on Masterson`s train picnic.

I'm very impressed by all the sleuths on here. I never guess anything right. It didn't help that I was tired when I saw the first two episodes so missed loads.
I know it's on iplayer but I read this hoping to catch up.

I do think Julian did it but caught a plane instead on the train. his friends will have backed him up just as he did when he helped sort out the girl in the trashed room.

Just watched the end. I've been gripped throughout,although tonight's was a bit drawn out - Louis moving from place to place - and the acting has been wonderful,love to see so many new faces. But I felt a little let down by the end,not sure why,perhaps wanting a final twist.

I was expecting a twist too,

the locations have made me giggle throughout, the village was the black country museum, and at the train station both of them where the sevenvalley at Kidderminster, I felt like saying I know its bad love your in kiddy when she was crying lmao.

I was convinced it was mr materson all the way through, but it was more simple than that.

Yes Julian confessed but surely most of the others were implicated by some degree or other. Maybe I'm reading too much into it!!

In a way, the murder was secondary to the web of complicated friendships and strangeness.

Still want to know what all the odd groupie type people had to do with the story...

Odd really-everyone ended back as they were after the promise of so much from Masterton!

So Masterton & Donaldson were both acquiring young boys-or were both in on the coverup?

And Lady Cremone ignoring Stanley at the end?

So she only had anything to do with him because she thought she had to?

Disappointing overall, I think.

Lady Cremone had pride. She didn't like the fact that Stanley was right and she was wrong... and she protected her 'class' ahead of her friends.

Masterton & Donaldson both protected their own again (both Masons?) so were in on the cover up.

Pamela was a nice surprise though.

I wasn't disappointed. I liked the ending...

That she stuck by her friends more than anyone else, when everyone looked at her and thought she was the stupid, worthless dumb upperclass twit. She was the only one who showed themselves to be worth knowing in the end and didn't look after no1.

I guess a lot of it pissed me off-the detective threatening Sarah & her telling where they were.

But I just loathed Julian the whole time so was quite glad when he shot himself.

But don't you think that the police threatening Sarah and pretending he was a servant was probably more realistic for the period than the alternative though. It wasn't nice to see Lester betrayed by people who he thought accepted him, especially from those who suggested they understood prejudge. One of the themes of the serious was where Lester said about its surprising were prejudice came from, and it was often from places you wouldn't expect. Very sad all round really.

And perhaps a message we should be thinking about in 2013...

Maybe, although I don't know a lot about the period.

I thought that he was supposed to be well known.

So I find the thought of him being unrecognisable due to being dressed as a servant insulting iyswim.

But then I suppose it depends who they were mixing with at that point.(wasn´t taking much notice by then)

I suppose the other point was that none of them were really accepted-they were all "dancing on the edge"

And of course Louis committed the absolute faux pas of saying that he had seen Julian, which was never going to be acceptable.
