Does anyone else watch this - what do you make of it? I know it's been knocking around for a while but I'd never heard of it until a couple of weeks ago. The market stall holder gives me the creeps and I'm not sure why (not cos he's blind) and so does that bit of the theme tune that the kids sing - it's like something out of a horror film

I like the concept. I really hate the execution. It sets my teeth on edge from start to finish.

pictish · 21/12/2012 00:17

Oh it's awful.
That horrible wooden statue Claude - wtf?

Devora · 21/12/2012 00:30

Granny Murray is very scary.

Ferret123 · 21/12/2012 01:52

Granny Murray really does have an enormous mouth...and there is no way the bloke in the train buffet car would be married to the pink taxi driver!

SmileReminds me of my 6yo when she was tiny, she used to love this show.
Just love the way a childminder is named grannyGrin

Ferret123 · 22/12/2012 20:09

I know, if granny is only about 40 that makes me feel really old! I'd never heard of the prog until recently, and then it was like I'd stumbled into a parallel universe

I really hate that the dog goes to granny murrays.

pELFicFloorClenchReminder · 26/12/2012 22:00

I love a bit of Raymond. He butters my toastie Xmas Grin

FeckOffCup · 26/12/2012 23:46

It's a weird programme, how many childminders take kids overnight while mum does a nightshift cleaning the buses Hmm, she must be raking it in if she has children round the clock.

Needingsomeadvice · 26/12/2012 23:52

I like it - when I had to work and my DS was in childcare 3 days a week programmes like this really showed him other parents working as a 'normal' way you can live your life. Now I am at home it is not so relevant for DD but I do like what they have done - showing that a childminder can be loving and almost like a member of the family, and showing kids how parents might be away from them at work (and may love their job) but also think of them all day.
Maybe I'm a softie at heart!

Needingsomeadvice · 26/12/2012 23:53

PS it is made by the same people as Balamory and while I think it retains some of the charm with the naive adults and the simple problem solving skills, I think it is not as amusing to the dult watching it with their child :)

FivesGoldNorks · 26/12/2012 23:56

Riversea fingle, riversea fingle by the sea...
It mostly depresses me. The woman who cleans the buses, the taxi driver and the teacher are just miserable. I like the guy who works on the train and I love the doctor. I'd never leave my children with a cm who lives in a flat that appears to be entirely below ground and is inhabited by creepy mannequins. And when the 'star' gets there, the 'filler' children are stood against a wall looking bored out of their skulls ... "dont just stand there me darlins"

FivesGoldNorks · 26/12/2012 23:58

Rudy I am on the fence. Sometimes I truly believe he loves his job, at other times he seems to grin through gritted teeth. Guessing it depends on hoe cold it is

Bullets · 26/12/2012 23:59

DS watches it in our bed in the mornings while I'm still sleeping waking up properly. It was weird catching a bit of it at lunchtime the other day, when I was fully conscious, and realising I knew all the words to the songs without ever actually watching it?

I'd been singing "I'm on my way, to work today" for ages and wondered where I'd picked it up from!

FivesGoldNorks · 27/12/2012 00:01

Do I go up now or do I go down, which way's a smile now, which way's a frown?

And I'm meant to trust you to teach my child or diagnose my illness?

FunnyLittleFrog · 27/12/2012 12:55

It is by far the oddest thing on TV.

The pink taxi driver and the train buffet guy make a very unconvincing couple.

Granny Murray clearly has 'feelings' for Claude.

The teacher and doctor are entirely inept.

And it seems to be filmed in some weird composite of Newcastle, Edinburgh and London.

FivesGoldNorks · 27/12/2012 15:30

the doctor isn't inept. But her job seems to involve only sticking on sticking plasters and putting up signs in the hospital. She mustn't be very senior :o
